Topic: Insectoid Tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

What does this tag actually mean? As it is, it's undefined and seems to be used inconsistently. I think it should be used for insect-like beings that don't fall into another category of arthropod but are not insects; whether due to limb count or something else.

Pinsir and Heracross, for example, would be Insectoids, and not Insects. I think the implication should be undone, and Insectoid should imply Arthropod.

I'm not on the Taxonomy train... so, uh.... I"m sure someone in that department will show up eventually.

That said... insectoid seems like a pointless tag. if we're going to let pikachus be rodents and growlithes be pantherine/canine/whatever, then heracrosses (heracrossi?) can be beetles... or even.. uh...... a rhino beetle , since they look a lot like those.

Pinsir, on the other talon, is kinnnda based on a stag beetle but they don't look as beetle-y as a herascross does. honestly they don't even look buggish.

post #1785227 This looks more like some rock monster, or weird machine... all with some bull/minotaur influences, lol

(the one in your icon is adorable though! aaah!)

I mean, neither of them have an insect body structure, which is the issue. Even if that is true. I am fine with Insectoid being aliased away too, honestly. But it's there at the moment.

I love the one in my avatar too. She's perfect.
