Topic: Approving being slow or missed?

Posted under General

Hi, my last uploaded pics are 8 days old and still aren't approved by the moderation. I check out others pics and more recent ones are already approved. What's going on?
Thanks to look into that.

You should give it about a month before inquiring. Approvals get backed up, so it's probably fine.

Like @SnowWolf says:

life's been up the shit's creek without a paddle for so many of us recently. well not so much horrible but much more "super goddamn busy".

So yeah. I've been pretty inactive lately myself due to education related personal business, apologies for that. Other mods are unfortunately busy around this same time. Just a bad spot of luck for our schedules

@SnowWolf Not to put you on the spot. But you haven't approved anything since July last year.

(At this time this is your most recent approval)

Maybe try to relocate some of that busy time into approvals. That would help your fellow janitors a lot.

I mean... it's kind of hard not to take that as anything but trying to put me on the spot since you could have PM'd me or something like that. (or messaged me on discord.)

I will just quietly say that I am pretty sure that no one begrudges me the time I've spent trying to keep my 11 year old niece and her mother safe (If you require details this or about the other things (hospitals, legal proceedings) that have been occupying my "busy time", you may PM and talk to me about it, but I'd really rather not slather my private business all over the forums).

That doesn't necessarily mean I'm a good janitor, however, I'll give you that. I'll certainly step down if asked, but I've been trying to contribute when and how I am physically and mentally able to. Usually by getting involved in the forums so other people don't have to, or other things behind the scenes. *shrugs*

For what it's worth, I'm sorry. I would really love a few weeks where nothing bad happens, but it feels a lot like the world won't stop and it keeps on spinning faster.

Thanks. I understand. Keep up the good work. I was just surprised that some pics that were uploaded were approved after only 2 hours.

I've definitely seen a lot of this. You've got a noticeable presence here on the forums and have been very much helpful in explaining things.

Only 8 days? Don't worry. I recently had two go as long as 29 days before approval, even as younger posts of mine got through. While I admit to getting nervous as time went on, I didn't say anything about it. I figured someone would get around to it when they got around to it, and if not, well, that's my tough luck.

I know it feels as if a lack of upload approval is like they're questioning your judgment and taste of suitable material for e621, but don't fret. It's not. Sometimes, everyone can do everything right, and uploads still not get approved until right under the wire.

Slyroon, that was not cool.

I mean, I can kinda relate to feeling that when you are pushing so hard at work that you are sweating and then seeing your coworker just sitting in the corner fiddling with their phone will make you extremely angry and frusrtated. Even if it does turn out that they were handling paperwork instead and just now managed to take brake and get text that something bad happened from relative, at which point internal communication would definitely be nice to have before starting gossip with customers.

I don't have access to finer statistics, but Slyroon has definitely been a huge driving force once again with approvals and they do communicate extremely rarely on comments and forums, so their hard work can feel like it gets buried sometimes.

Me personally, I'm pretty sure I only agreed to handle some more specific stuff like 3D artwork and animations, but have been slipping into flags and general post approvals pretty much daily now. If I recall correctly we asked SnowWolf and they agreed to help when they can but promised nothing and they have helped, just not with approvals specifically. Dice I have seen being extremely busy with Ratte with tag projects which seem to have taken them weeks of time.

Also as general reminder, if you do see helpful users, report them and explain how they have been helpful. There's never enough janitors, but trustworthy ones with enough free time to help seem to be hiding somewhere.

I hear you, and I always want to give credit to anyone who's helping make the place better. There are just diplomatic, tactful ways to bring things up, and that wasn't it.

because god damn people for trying to have a sense of humor.

Who was trying to be humorous?

Literally the first reply in the forum, and someone attempting to crucify them for it.

I wasn't replying to SnowWolf; I was replying to Slyroon. SnowWolf was right -- people need to be more patient.

I guess I'm confused about whom you seemed to be chastising.

I'll wait. I was just being suprised that some 2 hours old pics were already getting approved, while my week old pictures weren't. I don't know how everything work on this site.

A lot of the time the less obvious that a picture belongs here and/or is of questionable quality the more time it takes for it to be approved.
