Bug overview description. I have REPEATEDLY blacklisted the "sam_&_max" tag, yet I STILL see porn of them.
What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected? Posts
What is the expected behavior? Blacklist Sam and Max art.
What actual behavior is given instead? I still see Sam and Max art.
Time of incident (if applicable). Always.
Can you reproduce the bug every time? Yes.
What steps did you take to replicate this bug? Blacklist "sam_&_max" and scroll through, say, a search for "rabbit" and "dog." They will still show up.
Errors or other messages returned (if any). None.

1. you filled the bug report incorrectly, you are supposed to write you answers into the lines after the questions, not replace the questions with your answers 2. make sure that each blacklisted item is on their own line

blacklisting
dog cat
hides all images that are tagged as dog AND cat

blacklisting
dog
cat
hides all images that are tagged as dog OR/AND dog

if it doesnt help, i think its the & that makes the blacklist shit itself.

Copy and paste your blacklist in here.

The blacklist is sometimes a bit tricky to use, and mistakes are pretty easy to make. And if there is a bug, then we'll probably need the exact text to see what's goin' on.

I've had problems with ampersands in tags in the past, too, like when I'm making wiki pages (forum #261157) or when I'm replacing images using the Upload Better Version Firefox add-on (forum #87369; my post at forum #261683). The code of this site might have some still lingering problems with certain special characters.

(Side note; I would also suggest that an alias be made for sam_and_max to sam_&_max, plus similar aliases for the title characters' tags.)

This is indeed related to the & symbol, which used to(and partially still does) have special purpose in blacklists and a few other areas. We should alias the tag away so that it doesn't have a & in it. I should also update the acceptable formats for tags to disallow it in the future.

Fixed.

I just found out that it is possible to blacklist tags using ampersands if the ampersand is written in its percent-encoded form, which is %26. I've tested this by temporarily blacklisting oliver_&_company as oliver_%26_company and all related posts were hidden.

Well, now that we switched over to the new site, the ampersand can now be properly blacklisted as is instead. This was already resolved in the beta, but I still had to retest this after the new site launched. I've temporarily added m&m to my blacklist, searched for that particular tag, and they were all hidden as they should be. Thus, we can now declare this bug to be fixed.

I plan to start suggesting tags containing ampersands that were aliased to tags using the word "and" instead to have those aliases reversed so they can have their proper ampersanded names again, but not now considering all the more important issues that need to be fixed first after the recent switchover.
