So yeah, they're official.

Also they're all kind of bad looking, in my opinion. I suppose I've got some hope for some of their evolutions, but I think this is the least hopeful I've been for any generation starters except IV.

Also, another monkey? Why do we have so many monkey Pokemon?

Ah apologies, I should've provided sources. Today was the Pokémon direct so I'd assume people would know they're new official mons but not everyone is a Pokémon fan lol. My bad

Anyways I personally disagree, though that's a matter of personal taste more than anything. I quite enjoy their super cartoonish designs.

I don't have a problem with cartoonish designs, necessarily, it's more that these specific designs are't that interesting to me. First and foremost, we have another monkey, and I'm sick of monkeys at this point. The rabbit is okay but it almost certainly continues the trend of every fire starter being bipeda in their final evolution (since few Pokemon, if any, go from being bipedal to quadrupedal - which is a whole other topic, really). Sobble is the one I like the most, but I wouldn't put great odds on it becoming anything particularly appealing as it evolves.

I suppose at this point I would like them to shake things up a bit, and I feel like they've started to get stuck in a rut, especially with starters.

Also related: though they're as of now unnamed, should we create a temp tag for the human protags? There's only like a couple of fan content of them so far, but it might be good to have a placeholder tag for them, like sword_and_shield_male_protagonist, though that's a bit of a mouthful

They've got a hard job, following up after last gen. Wetboi looks pretty cute though!

mmmight be because Japan actually has monkeys, and they tend to have a presence in both rural and urban areas. It's also a figure in religion/folklore and art, over there.

I am very sad that fire boi looks like he will probably be fire/fighting by the end, though. :c
