Topic: Is Bad Dragon worth it? NSFW Shopping Advice Needed

Posted under Off Topic

Did NOT know they sold knotted Dildos on Amazon , They MAY be just for novelty but still. =‿=)

Are Bad Dragon products worth the cost?

With a few of them going for the upper $100 for a single customized
(Not to mention plus shipping) is it worth saving up for or is are there
any other places someone could- Excuse the pun "Get their hands on"
more unique dildos? ╹‿╹)

I swear as silly as it may sound saying it in a "matter of fact" kinda way
like that; I swear I'm serious. Currently in the market and looking for
something other than the norm that won't completely break the bank. ◠‿◠)

As long as it's pure, cured silicone that's being used you're fine. If you unpack a silicone dildo it also shouldn't smell badly or "sharp", if they smell bad they have some material in it that is likely not safe for human use.

With that said, Bad Dragon dildos are incredibly high quality and are made by hand, thus the high price. You can find some other manufacturers out there, but Bad Dragon also has some neat sales every now and then, especially around black Friday they have some pretty heavy discounts on pre-made toys.

Updated by anonymous

If you are into silicone dildos, then Bad Dragon is about as good as it gets. To add to what NMNY said, BD toys actually have an oddly pleasant, mild smell that is not at all "chemically", so to speak. It somewhat adds to the experience actually, at least for me.

However, they are expensive, so be sure to go to the BD forums and read up on things there. Before you buy any actual toys you might want to order a silicone softness pack from them as well. They sometimes have flops or premade toys in stock that are cheaper, so you might want to get one of those to see what you think before getting the dream-toy.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, dood. Gonna have to keep an eye or I guess a nose out for
heavy silicon smells in my future purchases. Don't wanna end hurting myself. ◠‿◠)

I can't say the same for me m8, Smell isn't really a thing that registers to me
during the experience. More about the shape and it's "curve." And while Bad
Dragon does have some products that fit just what I'm looking for Like:

The price of it when all's set and done, still in the 100's for one
seems like a lot Dildo; Especially taking changing interest into thought.
Definitely not to say that they should be cheaper, Just wanted to know
it the price was justified for the product i.e was there more too it
that other Dildos didn't have beside being made better; Ya know?

That Said!

I really appreciate the feedback I've gotten so far and taking it into
consideration I'll keep an eye out for any future Seasonal sales or otherwise
on Bad Dragon but for the time being, I'm gonna see if there are any other
less expensive choices out there. Starting with Amazon since the:

Just for clarification, I don't think their point is that other silicone products smell bad. I think it's that the bad smell is the result of volatile organic compounds in the competition's silicone that may be carcinogenic.

I understood that, Don't worry. ╹‿╹)
The quote you quoted was in response to Aster_Viridian saying

Though are there any other red flags of a bad toy I should keep an eye out for;
Other than a chemically smell?

If you're looking for a toy for anal use you should make sure it is anal safe. e.g. it has some positive stop method so that you don't over insert it. This always sounds obvious in retrospect, but I've heard enough people make this mistake to point it out.

You should also generally avoid very cheap toys and things made out of PVC, as they are typically harder to clean and not as neutral as silicone. Several of the toys you linked are not made of silicone!

You're going to see a big price difference between amazon(and mass generic sellers) and a smaller store because many of those toys are produced in huge volumes and they can invest in automated molding. But you should expect quality control to be hit or miss at that scale.

Ah that's a relief.
The one I've been eye seems to be made of silicon!
10-ton thanks for the heads up KiraNoot, Looked up the effects of PVC the reactions that could happen and did not seem pretty unpleasant to say the
least. =‿=)

Things to look out for:

  • Smell
  • Materials it's made out of.
  • A way to make sure it doesn't go too deep without a way of retrieval. (Make sure it has a base or a health set of Balls)

Also very understandable, dood. Seems like a scale if you don't mind me saying.

Big Store: Quality -> Quantity
Small Store: Quality <- Quantity

Though I'm fine greasy Fast Food Rather than a 5 star Disney land dinner as long as it serves the purpose, ya know? ╹‿╹)

I hear what you're saying, and it's really easy to think that way when you're young and healthy, but in the long run, greasy fast food destroys your arteries and gives you a heart attack.

That's actually not a bad analogy for cheap sex toys, either, if low quality materials have any likelihood at all of giving you cancer. Do yourself a favor: save your money, pay a little more now, and pay a whole lot less later.

Also, not all silicone is created equal.

With regard to your earlier question about things to look for, I recommend a web search on "sex toy safety" and "sex toy safe materials." There are really too many good articles for me to list them all here.

Happy humping!

As another point of reference, Bad dragon products are made with, presumably, the things bad dragon says they're made with.

A product on amazon is not so certain. There are plenty of products that

1) may be made out of entirely different (potentially unsafe) materials than the listing claims
2) May be made in an unsafe or uncertain location -- even if it says "made in the USA"
3) the picture used may not even be representative of the product you receive
4) The reviews may also be manufactured.
5) and even if they aren't, that doesn't mean that they're right. Bobfur cannot tell you if this wolf dick is, in fact, made out of medical grade silicon.

but if you do wanna buy off of amazon, always check out the negative reviews -- they tend to actually have real info.

ALSO:

6) There's no promise that the person selling the product is actually the person who created the product. What I mean is... I buy a fancy dildo. Nothing stops me from creating a mold, and selling my own cheaper copies on amazon. Or similar. (especially if I live in china or ????) So you could be paying for a knock off of someone else's design or something.

Very true m8, Very true. =‿=)
Low-quality biz does have a high chance of messing with your body bits.
Though the line between Food-Grade silicon and Premium-Grade silicon
doesn't seem all that large now that I looked into, Both being centered
around the idea of safety. So I'm hoping with proper care and safety
measure that peeps should do for Premium-Grade stuff too I can reduce
the risk of long term damage to a negligible amount. ╹‿╹)~★

Solid advice to use both in and out Amazon, Always be skeptical and get a second
opinion whenever shopping online. No matter how much you trust the site your

Oh my, that looks like chinese knockoff of Flint.

From my personal experience, buying cheaper sex toys online (under $30) has always been bit gamble. It's the mid-tier which starts to have solid quality and when you start to compare that to bad dragon, it's not that insanely expensive in comparison. Also have all my bad dragon stuff still after years, but have needed to throw away some other toys.

If you are completely new to sex toys in general, then maybe getting some medium priced toy from somewhere else just to get feel on size and such can be good idea and you can always use condoms with toys to keep them more sterile just in case. That way you do not spend hundreds of dollars on toy that might not be that great or that you can't even fit in.

Oh soo true m8 but, when the gamble works out it REALLY works out.
Actually, have a few stories myself were I went with "value" over quality and
later within the week (Excusez mon français T‿T) "Find them literally melted
like oh 'so shitty ice cream on a hot summer day" lolz

Though~ On the other hand, My first and current dildo I got from Amazon I got
in the 10$-25$ range has been nothing but awesome! Stable, Reliable and most
of all durable! My only complaint is that it's a pretty run of the mill 7'incher.
Amazing to start off with but, now that I know how to take one down to the hilt
I wanna try something new ya know? It's not you "ol' reliable", it's me. =‿=)

The toys you linked to on Amazon are foreign produced, knock-off products. You shouldn't trust their material quality even if they claim to be silicone. A toy made from 100% platinum silicone only means that of the percent of the toy that is silicone, that silicone happens to be all platinum cured silicone. It doesn't mean other chemicals weren't also included as well. And that's assuming they care about the the truthful advertising laws in your country. Sometimes products descriptions simply lie.

Bad Dragon isn't worth it. A few years ago they were, but now what you're paying for is the brand. There are lots of other smaller companies making similar products and at a cheaper price. You should get a silicone, glass, or metal toy. (There's a lot more details there that I'm going to ignore. There's different types of glass, metal, and silicone and some types of wood and other materials are safe.) These types of toys are also all safe to buy used. Skim through dragonmoor, dragon-hoard, or some of the other toy reselling forums to find both toys on sale and other toy stores. The only reason to buy new is if you want a custom color pattern.

As someone who has spent $$$ on advanced sex products, the most important aspect is your frame of mind and technique. Even a shockspot sucks if you haven't taught your body to enjoy that type of stimulation. Don't follow the path of buying sex toy after sex toy looking for the perfect one. Instead buy only a couple and spend your time mastering how to use them. If you want body shaking p-spot or g-spot orgasms, a simple drum stick works fine when you've learned how your body works and mastered it.

Nearly all lube is toxic, even the ones claiming to be safe (read the medical research papers on each of their ingredients). Use coconut oil or DIY by copying Sassy Sliquid's ingredients. You can make gallons for under $50.

Wow, Thanks a ton for the feedback,dood. ╹ ╹)
A lot of food for thought, A lot of food for thought.

Honestly thought BD was the only retailer for that special kind of toys.
Tbh I only found out recently that Amazon also had 'em, Even if they may be knock
offs; I had no idea there were other stores specializing in the sale too.
Let alone forums ╹‿╹)~★

Also, I couldn't agree enough with technique. Back in the day I though using
a Fleshlight would feel amazing right off that bat but, after getting one I
can defiantly say it's an acquired taste. Like said in a way, You need to learn how to use the toy before you can have fun with it. =‿=)

And yet another great point I'm glad you touched on!

Lube

For the most part, I've been sticking too my 'Water-based' lube for all
fun distraction needs. Though I'm running low at the moment and
planned on getting some at the same place I'll get my new toy out.
(In the hopes they ship it together)
Though given the new info about it too being toxic for your body
(That I'm about to look into) is making your own lube the preferable
option?

Updated by anonymous

Making your own lube is by far the cheapest way. Sassy is the safest commercial lube I've been able to find. A lot of people claim J-Lube is safe, but if its lubricating chemical (PEG) enters your blood stream (which it will since you're likely to cause anal micro tares), it eventually causes brain issues. For that reason it's banned (or limited, I forget which) for medical use on kids (who in theory have more permeable intestines than adults). Medical safety research deals with common medical levels of exposure. You need adjust their results for your likely more frequent use.

But even if most lubes are toxic, plenty of people still use them. They aren't going to suddenly kill you or anything like that. Buy whatever you want and figure out the safest DIY path as you have time.

Huh, Never knew the Lube world was so vast.
Also Love the phrasing at the end, Very kind.
◠‿◠)

Understandable points m8, Lube isn't cyanide or anything but It can be
unhealthy in the long run. Practical advice that can apply to a lot of
things brought up in this thread. ╹‿╹)~★

Though I have to say 'Home-Made Lube' sounds Veeeeery~ inticing!
No longer will I have to not have worry about running out of the stuff
when I feel up for a bit of experimenting and method making. =‿=)

Oh yeah!
Quick question for you or another very peep who know their stuff about Toys.
What term for Rippled Dildo with 'Bumps' going from the tip down the base?
Basically an oversized Ridable Anal Bead Dildo exactly like the one I've been making eyes at since the very beginning of this thread ╹‿╹)

May end up getting it, Possible flaws and all since I'm really loving the
shape but, wanna see if there are any others longer and like it first.

Flint From Bad Dragon

is close but not long enough with it caping out at 8.75 with only 6.5 being usable. =‿=)
(And a larger size than that could do some stretching in the long term since it also ups the girth)

It’s a bad place to ask. It’s like asking the meat industry if I should go vegan or eat meat every day.

That’s also a false attribution fallacy right there. I’m not asking Apple or sponsored reviewers if the MacBook is good, I’m asking everyone I know around me that has used it to know if it’s good.

This is not a good place to ask. You somehow proved yourself wrong and then spoke as if you hadn’t, which made me even more confused, but OK. Maybe the Bad Dragon is decent, even if the people behind it have been doing very, **very** suspicious things, but here is NOT the best place to find out.

whyy do you keep bumping threads that were super dead saying nothing?

What bias? Just because e6 is owned by DragonFruit dosn't mean users on the website won't have unbiased opinions on Bad Dragon products.
That's like saying that people that use YouTube won't have unbiased opinions of Google.

Also, like, you're not even protecting anyone form anything if there was some bias, the OP had already made a decision several years before you said anything.

Last year i bought a "XL Hydra" from this site called Weredog. a blatant BD clone brand by the looks of it.
Anyway, I'm still pretty inexperienced with it and I was wondering if are there any knot-enthusiasts with techniques or tips to share?
btw I've had a bunch of non-silicone dildos before and the switch to a soft silicone one has been so worth it.

Yeah fine so far. there's this one vibrator i bought for like 30€ with build quality that always seemed sketchy
few years ago I had left it too close to some clothes I don't remember what they were made of (I think it might have been a swimsuit), and the clothes had reacted with the toy. so now part of the surface looks molten and it stained the clothes permanently.
I've heard cheap dildos with damaged surfaces can bleed chemicals or plastics into the tissue walls of wherever you're using the thing. idk how true this is. I have used it since and it didn't cause any irritation or anything abnormal.

Hmm. when inserting a foreign object long enough to reach way beyond the rectum and into the many curves of the colon, there's always some level of discomfort, but its never actually hurt.
and with a knot way wider than what my pelvis allows, I haven't yet managed to take the knot. I know I can do it, but I've been too scared to go for it. Despite all the discomfort, it feels too good not to do. and every time im done, I wonder, why don't I do this more often? but then i remember what a hassle it is to prepare.
This leads to a question I've wanted to ask for a long time but haven't found a place to ask it.... what's the best way to empty/"clean" your bowels before making a large insertion?
Its really been the biggest hurdle I've had.
