Topic: Jagyouare/FagJag - What Gives?

Posted under Art Talk

Anyone noticed how this artist seemed to just disappear overnight? Sure, they’ve disappeared and came back in the past but this time around, seems like they’re gone for good.

I’ve always found e621 to be a great site to use as a metaphorical backdoor to get into “disabled” accounts since almost every post has an FA source link, yet the ones on Jagyouare’s gallery are a bust now. Which means the FA posts themselves have been removed and that’s concerning.

I don’t know why they decided to do this, but I can’t be the only one who’s annoyed by this. There’s no arguing that an artist on FA disabling their account is a dick move, especially for artists like Jagyouare/FagJag whose art, to my knowledge, has little to no backups outside of the handful e621 has managed to preserve.

We shouldn’t have to put up with this, or at the very least, we deserve answers as to why they deleted their FA gallery.

And if anyone has any art from them not posted here, feel free to post it right away. Who knows when/if they’re ever coming back…

It sucks, but artists can do what they want with whatever they make. I can see why people download and archive everything their favorite artists make in case of them trying to wipe everything off of the internet.

That’s fair, but at the very least, they could have given a reason and/or a bit of warning as to the closure of their gallery rather than vanishing without a trace.

They don't need to do anything. Also if these two artist names are the same person than the content should be grouped instead of being under two different artist tags.

I don’t get why the artist used two different aliases (three if you include JonRom) but they’ve all been tagged under different artists so far.

No.

They do not.
You do not.

You are not owed anything unless they accepted you money for a commission you didn't get. In that case, you are owed a refund.

I was speaking with a friend of mine the other day-- she was a pretty popular artist at one point, until she closed everything down, deleted everything. Vanished without a trace.

She did it because of a fuckhead stalker.

Multiple accounts, lewd comments all over the place. invasive PMs.
Phone calls. "your house looks nice." comments.
The police were involved. She was still terrified.

I'm not going to get into all the details, but basically, her accounts even existing was a stress point for her. They provided an avenue for her stalker to have access to her.

It. was. not. worth. it.

and she doesn't owe you anything.

and she doesn't owe you an explanation either.

She shouldn't HAVE to explain her biggest most personal trauma to you just to get your PERMISSION to leave from a space she feels unsafe in. she doesn't HAVE to give you warning before closing her galleries. Her taking care of her own safety and health is not a dick move.

The dick move is demanding that you MUST know WHY she is opting to close her accounts.

A closed account means they don't want that anymore.

And what happens if they comment "I'll be closing my account on friday"? People beg her to stay. people make her feel bad about her choices to leave. People shame her. People demand to know why. people act like entitled dicks because she's not saying why. Because they want more art. because they want to change her mind. because they don't like her choice. They want her to carry on like nothing has happened. They don't care why, they just want more art.

And what happens if she offers an explanation? Her reason is now out for judgement.

Everyone has advice "Just block him" "just ignore him" "omg call the police!" like she hasn't already.
Everyone has opinions "it's probably not a big deal, jsut ignore him and he'll go away when you don't react" "if you leave you're letting him win." "oh don't close it, jsut stop posting if you have to!" "remember that the creation of art is a very important stress relieve so you should keep drawing." "wow, that sounds liek something out of a horror movie!" "OMG DO YOU HAVE SOMEWHERE SAFE TO GO?" "please don't die!"
Everyone has stories to tell... "my cousin dealt with someone like that. He just really liked her! They got married and have 2 kids now :D GIVE HIM A CHANCE!" "omg that happened to my sister and she was raped and murdered!!!!" "that happened to me in collage! this one night I am pretty sure he was knocking at my front door but I called the police and he went away. I havn't heard from him since but I still worry...." "wow, I was reading about SERIAL KILLERS last night and that sounds JUST LIKE..."
Everyone is still fucking selfish. "Well I hope you sort this out soon, I can't wait for the next page!" "I hope you don't have to be gone for too long!"

and even with all that , some fucking people still don't think it's good enough. some people still demand her art over her safety and comfort.

and what if... what if the answer had been "I don't want to be this person anymore." or "I want to focus on studying and this is the best choice for me right now." or "I want to start over."

Peopel are dicks.

artists don't owe you anything.

Christ, sorry for not wanting to let a good artist’s work disappear and be forgotten. Look, I’m on the same page with you as far as creepy stalkers go, but I won’t put up with something of such high quality vanish just like that.

No need to bring someone else’s problems into this either, I’m sure they wouldn’t want any attention drawn to it.

But if they're deleting their shit, they *want* it to be gone.

No need to bring someone else’s problems into this either, I’m sure they wouldn’t want any attention drawn to it.

My friend's problems were well over a decade ago, they didn't draw furry art, and I recolored some of her details with similar examples rather than her precise story. Stalkers are a pretty common problem you know? (I can think of two other friends who've had Issues With People Who Don't Understand Boundaries in the last 3 months alone)

I'm not really concerned with my friend's privacy here, though I expect she'd support me.

(also anything after "It. was. not. worth. it." was extrapolation rather than a retelling of her story. you can't vanish without a trace, say you're leaving on friday AND provide three different explanations :P)

But, tha'ts distractign from the topic.

I'm all about conserving art too-- but the important thing here is that the artist doesn't want his or her art on his or her accounts anymore. If they don't want it here, they can file a takedown request. But my reply wasn't about your trying to conserve the art.

My reply focused on your opinion that the artist owes you an explanation. They don't.

It’s fair to say that they don’t owe us an explanation, but a sudden disappearance with no apparent reason raises a lot of questions. Especially when the artist has done it repeatedly in the past.

Annnnddd you just answered your own question. The artist shut down old FA accounts to run off a single account.

Well, seems that what little work of his that was on here was taken down anyways, for reasons we don’t and most likely won’t ever know. Don’t you just love it when that happens?

I mean, when artists clear their galleries they often clear their tags on booru's like e621 which respect artists as well.
