Isn't implying to body-type generally a very bad idea?

Sometimes yes but not always; depends on the specific circumstance.

Even so, humanoid fictional species tend to be the usual exception for the rule; the rule is more for when like... fictional non-humanoid creatures are implied to something

-1. This uses Tag What You Know. For fictional species we use Tag What You See.

I could see implicating irken and plorgonarian.

But some of the others don't look particularly 'alien'.

If I put it like this: would it be possible to draw them as ponies and still have them recognizable as base species? If yes humanoid implication is a very bad idea. If not, do they actually work with twys?

Update as of March 27, 2019: Out of all the suggestions the OP made, only irken and kweltikwan have now received implications to alien, as well as their affiliated copyrights (invader_zim and lilo_and_stitch, respectively).

So, is yautja -> alien going to happen? There are now roughly 150 posts tagged with the former and not the latter, and about 120 for zerg.
