Topic: Tag Alias: hanna–barbera -> hanna-barbera

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Same thing; former utilizes the slightly wider en dash rather than the normal hyphen for some reason.

Created this thread a little oddly because it's currently impossible to traditionally suggest this, as there's an (empty) alias suggestion for it years back with no forum made so no possible bumping either. Oh well.

A lot of hanna-barbera copyrights are missing the proper implications, so these suggestions may be long...

Someone was watching Boomerang recently? ;p

I think this looks good, but I need to take issue with hong_kong_phooey_(character)hong_kong_phooey.

This is a case where the name hong_kong_phooey is both a character name and the show's title. They should be kept separate...while it's HIGHLY unlikely (given the show's limited cast) that you would see any art from the Hong Kong Phooey show that doesn't feature its titular character it could still happen.

astro_(the_jetsons)astro_the_space_mutt
I also take issue with this...I don't think Astro was ever referred to as a "space mutt" on the Jetsons. I think you're mistaking this for "Astro and the Space Mutts" which was a small spin-off show wherein Astro was part of a space police force...the "space mutts" refer to the other dogs that worked with him...I think the original tag is just fine here.

? I think you are confused; my suggestion was to have the character IMPLY the show, not to alias them to the show name, it's under my implication suggestions. This way the character implies the show, but not every post with the show will involve the character. I think maybe you thought it was an alias by mistake, ahaha.

Also, in regards to astro: fair enough. I was mainly looking for a distinct character tag for him that wasn't just a vague "astro" like it originally was before I did a quick cleanup. Astro_(the_jetsons) might be specific enough for him to be fine by itself, sure.

Also yes, I know of the spinoff, but I was mainly referring to his nickname that ended up inspiring the name for that show itself. From what I managed to gather, the name of the spinoff was inspired by one of the nicknames for the character. But you're right in that it isn't 100% consistently used as an official name, so the plain astro_(the_jetsons) tag may work better. I was more or less just trying to find a good, more unique name for the character, but simple copyright suffix name tag may work better here.

Yeah I guess I read that wrong...oops.

I was also thinking we're missing a few Jetsons characters on the implications list:
judy_jetson -> the_jetsons
elroy_jeston -> the_jetsons

also:
barney_rubble -> the_flintstones

If you wanna add those to your original post.

I didn't include those mainly due to the tags not being used much, as mods tend to prefer to imply tags that are relatively used rather than rarely used or empty. More useful and practical, I suppose.

Oh, I thought u were going for a more exhaustive approach...of tags on the site at least. I noticed that Bamm Bamm Rubble, for instance, didn't appear in any posts so I didn't even mention him. I checked all of these, they are at least on the site.

Personally I think as long as they're tagged and in the main cast why not include them? I mean none of these tags are SUPER popular anyways...practically every tag in the entire list is under 50 tags.

Tru tru! I'm mostly just mentioning the more used tags mainly because they'll probably be the ones needing the implications the most seeing as they're tagged more than the less used tags.

But mods can always feel free to imply or alias anything if they feel it's helpful, so if they see a use for it I'm sure they'll apply an implication to those characters. It is up to them after all, ahaha.

I mean you're already asking them to look over a list that contains 90+ aliases/implications and you expect them to also be trying to think of additional characters? If I was a mod I'd probably look at this and think "damn, he's got them all!" and I wouldn't even think to try to think of additional characters.

I mean if you don't want to add these characters I can just make a separate post, just thought it would be easier to add them to your massive list.

Well I meant more "mods looked through this forum's responses for others being mentioned" rather than mods just guessing them, but you do have a fair point! I'll add them in one sec.

Edit: Done

...

Looked at alias system and spotted the hanna_barbera -> hanna–barbera alias
I assume has en-dash because of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna–Barbera link in (alias) Reason field
and then "Hanna–Barbera" was probably copy-pasted into the alias suggestion form (without realizing the dash wasn't a regular hyphen)

Aliasing to hanna-barbera with a regular-hyphen sounds great to me.
+1

Hope a mod (or other admin) can
1) undo the hanna_barbera alias ( https://e621.net/tag_alias?query=hanna_barbera )
2) then alias both hanna_barbera AND hanna–barbera
TO hanna-barbera (already has 2064 posts).

EDiT: and there's already a nice wiki at hanna-barbera (and yogi_bear and hokey_wolf both imply to hanna-barbera)
EDiT: added quotes and "was" because i realize sentence could be misread.
