Topic: bethesda_softworks -> bethesda alias reversal

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Bethesda, in addition to a company, refers to several real-life locations, including the city the company was named after. For this reason, I think it would be clearer and more accurate to use bethesda_softworks instead of simply bethesda. I know it's not likely the city will get tagged but it seems better to use the proper name.

The fact that there's a wiki page for bethesda_softworks, the tag that was aliased away, and not the one it was aliased to, says a lot if you ask me.

I doubt anyone will ever tag Bethesda the location, on here, but who knows.

Just seems like someone forgot to transfer that information to the new parent, there we go.

Didn't know it was the name for several locations, so I may just reverse the alias. Simple fix

That doesn't really say anything to me, considering that was just due to me forgetting to transfer the wiki over. The tag having or not having a wiki has nothing to do with its validity whatsoever.

For example: felid_humanoid has over 14k posts and no wiki. It's still a valid and very well used tag.

Anyone can make a wiki.

Only an administrator can make an alias or implication.

That doesn't mean that we're flawless or anything, just...

I wish people would stop using "it has a wiki!" as a reason why something is 'legit' and 'officially sanctioned' :)

Alias was removed, but not reversed, so now we got both tags, which is more than redundant.

If Bethesda, the location, is actually used, for some reason, couldn't it just be tagged as bethesda_(location)?

Alias WAS reversed, but only temporarily. Bethesda is multiple things if I recall, so I just left it until it gets used for something non-Bethesda softworks related
