+1. The term is also applied to partially removed tails or ears, typically seen in some dog breeds.

+1, dock_(anatomy) or dock_(tail) for the current use are my suggestions.

Due the possible usage cited above, both suggestions possibly wouldn't work.

Got a better idea? In all seriousness, let's brainstorm.

'equine_dock' maybe?

edit: forget that, bad idea.

Yeah, definitely needs a disambiguation.
The wiki usage of dock seems specific to the MLP fandom. Everyone else uses it for piers, shipyards, etc.

dock -equine -mlp only finds dozen posts (out of 4757), and that's mostly because the boat docks have been sorted out.

dock_(anatomy) for the anatomical structure, docked_tail and docked_ear for partially removed tails and ears. dock_(tail) would be an easier tag but seems more likely to induce mistags due to similarity with docked_tail. Wikipedia also suggests tailhead for the anatomical structure, but that's too close to tail_head for my liking.

hum…

I) Maybe docked tails don't need a specific tag, they probably would fall under 'short_tail' or 'amputation'.

II) I am still not sure about 'dock_anatomy', it sounds like the sort of thing that would be mistagged, since docking is a body modification (isn't uncommon for people to connect "anatomy" to "body aspects", even when these aspects have been modified).

I think that's more because the dock is most visible on equines, not necessarily because it's MLP specific.

Bringing this back up. Dock should be either disambiguated or aliased to dock_(anatomy), so people will know that their interpretation of dock isn't the same.

+1, dock (in it's current use) should be migrated to dock_(anatomy) or dock_(tail), and then dock should be aliased to dock_(disambiguation).

I've been a regular tagger of dock (as the wiki currently describes it) and I feel the tag should be disambiguated, since it could be used for multiple other tags such as pier, docking, dock_piercing, or docked_tail.

Yes, this is definitely in need of disambiguation. A waterside dock, an animal's docked ears/tail, docking (penis penetrating sheath), and the anatomical structure some animals have for the piece of tail just above the anus. If nothing else, it is regularly confused for a pier, and there are still posts using it for a pier.

There's been several disambiguation tags that have been rejected tonight, all having been pending for quite a long time and all I would have called valid. Has it been so long that better solutions are now available or were they gumming up the works as they were before?
