Reason:

surprised that we havent already got rid of this

wonder if it might be better to invalidate it since there are several animals which use this term for their females. deer are just what people know the most.

Yeah considering its multiple uses I say we either:

1) invalidate
2) alias to base mammal (I believe doe as a term is only used on mammals, yeah?)

female might be a decent option too. I don't think any 'does' are male animals.

Yeah with that in mind, the best compromise imho would probably be a doe -> mammal alias, as I believe all animals referred to as does fall under mammal

Then they're using the wrong tag anyways? Doe literally means female [insert animal here], so they're essentially tagging girly as female. I'd say we should alias it and just punish people using female or variants incorrectly as we always do.

A doe IS a female critter.

They're using it wrong, and they should feel bad.

Did someone come in here and clean up the tag? Since there are only 23 pictures, I'm still in favor of 'female'

+1 for alias to female, -1 for alias to cervid. According to Wikipedia, 19 types of animals have the female referred to as a "doe". The listed (not all 19) are:

• antelope
• caribou (reindeer)
• chamois
• deer (sometimes also "hind" or "cow")
• gerbil
• goat (nanny is usually used instead, but sometimes "doe" or "doeling")
• hamster
• hare (sometimes a "jill")
• kangaroo ("flyer", "jill" and "roo" are also used)
• koala
• mouse
• rabbit (sometimes a "jill")
• rat (sometimes "cow")
• squirrel (sciurid)
• weasel (mustela)
