Mmmm... Are you Russian, @Hexen?
You know, my first shot was that you were Central European, Scandinavian... or even American. I was close to Russia once, but never went beyond the Baltic Countries. Still, there live a lot of Russians, and you know interesting people and cultures there. I grew specially fond of Belarusian women :) ... such adorable persons =).
I myself don't know if I know "much" or "little" of Mexican music. In any case, I listen to Mexican music that few people listen nowadays.
1 , 2 , 3 , 4 (my vid)
If you ask me what is playing in the Mexican radio nowadays, I cannot tell ... and even knowing, my guess is that I will not hear it.

Thanks... and I didn't resist the impulse to reafirm, that I think very much as the starter of the thread...

Starting a New Year, doing some home chores ... while Dean Martin, sings to my heart...
;-).
So let's just mention "Eurobeat"
It's so damn uplifting / has a catchy tune / and the weirdest thing is
- invented by Italians
- sung in English
- Main Audience Japanese ,.... this is so DaFuq XD
And i Love it, for those who don't know here's a Playlist

...Huh, you just made it apparent to me that Eurobeat all uses a very similar cover art format. Stopped liking the music in my teenage years but I love that part...
Nevertheless, slow/medieval choral makes some of the best background music, IMO.
I personally feel (mostly from experience) that a lot of native English speakers have a much lower tolerance for non-English singing, too, compared to other language natives listening to other-lang songs. It's a shame, but I guess the English music world has what may as well be a majority of the (well-documented) greats. On that note, lately I've been obsessed with "The Lemons" (Mongolian) and "Sumé" (Greenlandic). Would recommend for those with a propensity to pop-rock styles!
Edit: On the note of twistedlogik contribution, sludge metal (bonus points if not stoner metal, sorry) could use some love. I see a lot of reason for it to be appealing, it's wicked heavy without a lot of the flaws that metal gets when redundant. It's the origin of this username, after all.

Mmmm... I will shorten this entry, because it was a lot of text and afer all this thread is not about my musical kinks '=).
I just will say that after 2010, the musical scene, for me is "a dark zone".

Regarding what you said about "Mongolian rock", I have not hear it yet. But I saw a documental on TV some years ago, that was very interesting. Maybe I will try to find something of it later.Have a nice day.

My bad on making "Mongolian music" a genre, that wasn't exactly the intention. Sure does feel exotic, though... but not everything has throat singing in it, it's just a pretty sounding tongue ^^
Did see someone wearing a hoodie of one of the heavier Mongolian folk-metal bands, Tangier Calvary, IRL, so I'm probably biased...
Counter-edit to your current edit: Hey, they're still trying to figure out this "catchy+profitable industry" thing. ^^' (sorry about the Korean neighbor confusion BTW, sounds like a bold move tho)
But yeah, Dean Martin. Dunno about you, but in regards to music and feelings, he and his band is a warm blanket of nostalgia. Maybe that's part of the lack of influence? It's good to come to one's own conclusions.

European style power metal

And folk metal seem kinda overrated to most United States Americans who mostly want to listen to something heavy and consider folk metal and power metal not metal.
I liked this Dreams and Pyres Axel...
