Reason:

Alternate title: It's Time to Stop Naming Things Saurian

There's currently an artist:saurian tag with 28 posts as of this post. Notably separate from saurian_(artist), and causing several problems due to sharing a name with creatures from no less than FOUR different video or traditional games, (so far I've counted Star Fox, Ark_Survival_Evolved, Dragon's_Dogma, Fantasy_Craft) and a game simply titled Saurian_(game) (which appears to require a merge with saurian_(copyright)) I honestly wasn't expecting that last one to even have a single tag before checking for saurian* tags. There also appears to be some form of obscure Sonic fan-term usage relevant to a single post I'm probably just going to strip, because of course there is.

None of the individual "Saurian" species appear to have their own tag, so I'm going to leave those in this purgatory until someone can throw up a consensus on whether any should get their own (there are a lot from Star Fox without a tag for them) or just get kicked into the various dinosaur/lizard/scalie tags.

I also do not possess sufficient game knowledge to determine the origins of the following posts:

I'm actually curious if this was from an actual game, I don't really know old video games but I kinda figured something has an actual "saurian" race in it that this was referring to.

I think that's just that artist's original content.

Though while trying to track it down I did find an unrelated Star Trek species..)

saurian is also a term for group of different dinosaur-like reptilian species in gw2, though i do not know if it has ever got tagged on posts here

It should also be noted that saurian in general has been used as a slang term for dinosaur-like creatures just in general, not necessarily limited to certain media. Probably why the term ends up used so commonly for fictional dino-likes in various forms of media.

I'd recommend either the disambig, as first suggested, OR we can alias the term to base dinosaur or reptile AFTER tag cleanup and giving the unique, series specific saurians their proper, specific tags (saurian_(game_x), saurian_(franchise_y), etc etc)

Hence why I specified "AFTER tag cleanup"

After tag cleanup and sorting, THEN we would implement it.

But that's not going to stop people from just tagging saurian on future posts, which would then automatically alias away with no cleanup step possible.

At which point they'd be entirely indistinguishable from the rest of the tag it ends up in unless a logo was featured.

Yeah, in that case, a disambig might be the best option.
