Topic: [Feature] Comment reply/"Response" improvements

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Firstly, replies should be able to nest; basically, if replying to a comment which is itself a response to another comment, the first comment would be contained within the comment that is being replied to.
This can currently be done manually by putting a quote block within a quote block, like so:

input

\

"TheMonst3r"\:\/user/show/355455 said:
\

"ForThePlot"\:\/user/show/293808 said:
\

Close
your eyes,
and look\

\

One of the best scenes in that movie imo
\

[contractually-obligated "Shooting Stars" joke]

output

However, replying currently deletes quote blocks and their contents, so this can only be done currently by clicking reply to each quoted comment and moving the quotes into each other.

Secondly, replies should be switched from the \

tag to the \

tag to automatically collapse the comments being replied to. The previous example could then look like:

input

\

Why would it be useful?
Nested replies would improve readability, as people would no longer have to scroll up to see what "Person A" was talking about in the comment that "Person B" replied to.
Using section tags for replies would reduce the clutter of replies, especially considering the verbosity that nested replies would otherwise cause.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Post comments and any other site feature with the same "Response" function.

This reminds me of something I was going to post with earlier and forgot:

The preview button on post comments doesn't do anything if the comment contains non-ascii characters, such as the é in pokémon, it seems to work ok on the forums though.
