Topic: Tag Alias: cowlick -> ahoge

Aliasing cowlick → ahoge
Link to alias

Reason:

The tags ahoge, antenna_hair, and cowlick all appear to mean the same thing based on their wiki descriptions and the way they are tagged.

Personally, I prefer antenna_hair for the descriptive name of the tag (making it easier for users to understand what the tag is used for by the tag's name alone). However, ahoge is shorter to type and is far more populated (ahoge's 1547 posts, compared to antenna_hair's 227 posts and cowlick's 36 posts). Additionally, I could see antenna_hair being mistakenly mistagged for 'character with hair and antenna'.

Tag Alias:

EDIT: The tag alias cowlick -> ahoge (forum #275630) has been rejected by @bitWolfy.

This seems a little bit complicated, as ahoges actually are the same thing as cowlicks, it's simply the Japanese term for them. Because they're usually drawn in a specific way in anime, the term ahoge tends to be associated with that specific style of cowlick. Even if they're technically the same thing, keeping the tags separate is probably easier for users to find what they're interested in.

I'm agreeing with Wrekt here. Ahoge アホ毛 technically means cowlick, but if it is strongly associated with a specific type of anime hair then it would be good to use it for that and use cowlick for the real thing.

Also, I think I just realized something weird. My family calls hair whorls cowlicks, so when I first read this thread I was confused and thought everyone was mistaken, but I think I'm the one who is mistaken haha. Hair whorl is tsumuji つむじ by the way.
