Topic: Was the Hover Score feature removed?

Posted under Off Topic

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, so I'm just dropping this here instead.

I remember that a year or two ago, I would be able to hover over the score on any image and it would report how many of the score were downvotes and upvotes.

Was this removed from the Site? Did Google Chrome remove a piece of code that this feature relied on?

If it was removed from the site on purpose, what was the reason?

Chrome might have removed it because I am still seeing it on Firefox. There is a custom hover thing on the new in progress site, so when we get that finished it'll be there if chrome doesn't fix it.

You sure you are checking it as guest or with regular level account? Because if I remember correctly it was removed from anyone under admin as it was stressing the server so much for feature that not many would even know to exsist.

Also just tested, it does not work with opera, firefox, chrome nor edge, logged in or out and haven't been enabled for like year now.

Big sad. I loved that thing

I guess making it load the values alongside the standard score and showing it in a little HTML/CSS popup window wouldn't be much of a solution.

It was removed witout any announcement around october because it was something most users (or even staff) didn't know about or use very often and it had a measurable impact (~10ms, IIRC) in page load for /post/show. Considering how few people even brought it up in the past 6 months, I'd say it was a pretty good decision, though I'm also pretty bummed that there's no alternative way to see the upvote/downvote breakdown since that change happenned.
