Topic: Can we PLEASE tag knot?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Seriously, I don't like knots. Probably controversial, but there needs to be some way to blacklist them. Not all knots are on a dog penis (such as with lots of drakes/drake characters), so it's not like I can just say -canine_penis. I don't want to waste search space by blacklisting knot AND canine penis. Sometimes I genuinely don't give a rat's about it because lots of good art has a knot, and it usually isn't the main feature (okay, maybe only *sometimes* it isn't the focus). But if I don't want to see it I can't just blacklist it because it still shows up. How hard is it to just type 4 extra letters and a space into the tags when you upload?

Edits for clarification because even though this annoys me I don't want to sound like a dick.

Edit: removed the swear because again, I don't want to sound like a humanoid_penis.

If you see that tag is missing, add it. You also may politely ask the uploader to add the tag in future. Yelling about it on forums however is knot very productive and most likely is knot going to help you with this.

Edit: Wow. You have added knot tag on whopping nine posts, what an amazing effort! With such a huge contribution you have definitely earned your right to complain on forums about other people not bothering to use the tag /s

blacklist "knot" how do you knot know this

I believe the problem they're having is that people don't tag "knot" when they upload pictures featuring them, so the pics get through their blacklist.

I think they explicitly inferred in the title people are not tagging knot

Implying I have the time to do so. Also I have other things on my mind than fixing every single post that does "knot" have it.

I am not telling you to go through everything on this site and tag all posts that are missing knot tag. I am telling you to add the knot tag whenever you see it's missing. It takes only few seconds to add a single four letter tag. It's bit hypocritical to complain how others do not bother to do it, and then turn around and refuse to do this exact same thing. And the fact that you are demanding this only to cater your personal needs.

search by humanoid_genitalia? In case you still find knots, tag them yourself and ask the uplaoder to use that tag next time.

You could start by adding knot to your blacklist.
Because it's not on there.

big think

don't confuse search space with blacklist space. your blacklist is full of nontags and redundancies, so lacking space there doesn't seem to be much of a concern.

This made the thread instantly several times funnier.

No disrespect, but it's not on there because I don't always care about a knot in the frame if the art is really good. (For example lots of people put knots on dragons but otherwise a normal penis.) It's only sometimes that I don't want to see it.

Seems like I'll have to do this... :/ Thing is I don't usually care if there's a standard *looking* penis in frame that's technically non-humanoid and I'd rather not miss out on something due to lack of humanoid_penis tag, but usually humanoid penis stuff is what I'm looking for when I blacklist/- stuff so that's probably the only solution.

Love your art BTW

how do you check these? That's pretty cool.

Admins have access to people's blacklists, and everyone has access to anyone's tag edit history. The stat numbers on profiles are links.

you can tick or untick your blacklist values after making a search. it doesn't prevent those results from coming through into your search, it simply hides them. you can access this under the search bar, click the Blacklisted text and it will expand to reveal the blacklist entries the current search hits followed by the number of hits. just click the tag text to unhide the blacklisted results. only excluding the tag from your search with something like -knot will prevent those posts from entering your search results at all.

Tru but it forces me to look through a list (which I'm crap at) and it re-hides everything on page refresh and it means the images still pull up meaning I have to go through more pages with more blankness on them.

It sounds like you're having something of the same problem that I was having with MLP a while back. I didn't want to block it entirely, because sometimes I found nice things, but I was also sick of the volume of content that I was seeing.

To that end, let me give you a suggestion. Use a more complicated set of lines on your blacklist.

You don't need to blacklist individual terms on your blacklist, you can actually include multiple terms on the same line, and this will let you blacklist images which contain all of those terms. You can also include negations. You can use this to make sure that any post which has knot tagged must also have other things which you like in order to appear.

I can't actually make an effective specific example because I don't know your interests, but let me give an example of the sort of thing that can be done. Say, hypothetically, that because you had a particular interest in scalie characters (going off your name here), you generally don't want to exclude too much art that has a scalie in it, even if the art includes a knot. Let's also say that you're fine with knotted dildos, and you're mostly fine with dragons having knots. To that end you could put these two lines on your blacklist:

knot -scalie -dragon
knot -scalie -knotted_dildo

These two lines, together, would (1) block all art which has a knot but not a scalie, and (2) block all art which has neither a dragon nor a knotted dildo, but allow art that includes at least one of those two things.

Using more complicated structures like this can be more effective for things you don't want to outright block entirely but would like to limit how much you see, especially when you specifically only want to see it if the rest of the image is particularly to your interests.

No disrespect or nothing but if someone doesn't want to see knots I highly doubt they're going to want to be the individual tagging knots.

You already saw it, so you are going to click the edit button and type in those 4 letters so you don't continue to get triggered.

Even if you can just see it in the thumbnail, there's a nifty "Mode" dropdown on the lefthand side of the post listing. In my case, I don't want to be viewing cub, so if I so much as see a thumnail including a cub, I'll just hit the mode dropdown and enter "Edit post" mode so that I don't have to actually view the full size image. Especially no reason to not add the tag at that point.

The title and my currently out-of-the-gutter mind made me think of "knot" as those things tied to your shoelaces.

Are you sure you want to blacklist the art of tying ropes and shoelaces?

Updated by anonymous

A Grease Monkey script which turns someone's blacklist into a clickable list displayed next to the image sounds like a feature some people would want. Click a list entry and that tag gets automatically added to the image then backs the tab to an earlier page.

Might be useful for people on tagging sprees adding specific tags to individual pictures too.

Be the change you want to see in the world, that helps you a lot more getting people interested in your opinions than just telling other people to do things for you.

Click the "Mode" dropdown menu below the search bar, select "edit post", click the thumbnail, edit tags, save them, change the mode back to "view posts".

https://e621.net/post/show/1990238 Mentioning, I see knot when it really should be knotting. Because knot by itself implies just a little red rocket. Sorry if that phrase is too explicit. XD

I tagged that solo_male, because he's alone in that frame. I guess that's TWYS. Not going to get mad and go all rules lawyer because somehow separate frames count as one 'image' in terms of character interactions. It just makes sense, is all.

LOL, that's a good trolling there, Alex.
