Topic: [Feature] popup editing overlay on posts index page

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
when viewing posts in the "edit posts" mode on the posts page(https://e621.net/post/index ), currently when an image is clicked the page auto scrolls to the top of the page and opens an editing bar to let a user edit a post's tags. this causes the user to lose their place when looking through posts and often doesn't allow them to look at the picture they clicked on and edit its tags at the same time.

The suggestion I'd like to make:
take the editing bar that currently appears at the top of the posts page and turn it into an overlay popup that is pinned to the bottom of the browser screen until the user clicks update or cancel. when a user clicks a thumbnail the editing overlay would pop up at the bottom of the screen and the page would scroll slightly upwards so that the clicked thumbnail would remain in view for reference while editing tags.

Nice to haves:
if possible and if easy enough to implement it would be nice if an enlarged, better resolution version of the thumbnail clicked also appeared on the screen when an image is clicked. currently the lower resolution thumbnail is the only default reference to go by in the editing mode. this makes tagging more detail intensive tags hard to manage when solely using the editing mode and makes opening the image in an alternate tab/window almost a necessity. having an enlarged version of the image being edited would allow users to more comfortably and accurately edit a post's tags through the editing mode.

Why would it be useful?
greater ease of use and better quality of life when using the editing screen on the posts page

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
