That character isn't topless. The topless tag only applies to images where the character has no clothing over their top half, that includes bras and other types of underwear.

...which is exactly what I was saying in my original post. That character is shirtless, but not topless. Yet, at present, "shirtless" is aliased to "topless," so you can't tag that character as being shirtless, without the system automatically changing it to topless.

Is there any evidence that it has caused mistags? The other alternative would be to switch the alias to invalid_tag, but that's not worth the work if it's not causing actual problems.

Whether it already has or not, I couldn't say (Though it does seem incredibly likely), but my very first post included an example of a way it easily could in the future. It just takes one well-meaning user trying to tag a female/intersex character in a bra, but no shirt, as "shirtless," and the alias immediately changes that to a misstagged "topless."
