e621 is already using Yandex analytics

o.O

Wtf?..

I mean, it's gonna be blocked by any decent adblocker, but still. Why?

Russia blocks e621, it wouldn't make sense. We only use Yandex analytic because the newt says so.

Yandex has offices and servers in multiple countries. According to Munkelzahn, it works for e621 images right now. For the purpose of finding sources, the results we are looking for are non-e621 sites.

Ah well ok I hope you understand how much of liability it is.
You are exposing your users. Pretty low thing to do, even for a porn site.

-1 to having a link on every post page.

Add a section to howto:sites_and_sources explaining how to use their reverse search service. It should be a last resort option anyway, when everything else fails to find the source. Users who get that far should be reading the wiki anyways.

p.s. no srsly why Yandex? FA uses Quantserve for instance.

To what @hslugs has said I have to add I was fairly stunned to learn this. There are so many privacy implications, not to mention the role Russia has been taking in global affairs. Were users notified at all? Did I just miss it?

Yeah, more than one thread lately has seemed to be locked when they become uncomfortable, I've noticed. I'm glad to know the tracking can be shut down with an adblocker. I've made the necessary adjustments to mine, but I feel like that switch was a real disservice to users who are trying to be serious about their privacy.

On my Polish Internet connection I can reverse image search e621 links on Yandex.ru with no problem.
