This is a cross-post(?) from somewhere else, but
The 'download' button's new(?) functionality, seems redundant... actually, seems to have removed a feature really liked/needed.
So, before today, the old download button would simply change your current window to be the full-screen page of the main picture, and that was great.
But, now the new one opens it in an entirely separate tab... This doesn't seem like a big problem, basically the same... But it's actually not only deeply redundant--As you can already right (Or long, for mobile users) click images and open in a new tab--but it was actually a massive feature-removal for some use cases, and, personally, the main reason I picked e621 over other booru-style sites and even FA for pictures.
You can easily end up opening a massively large volume of pictures, in the dozens to hundreds, each time you really need to search for, or find something specific, on the site... or if you take a few hours to do your business ( <.< )... and this of course has effectively DOUBLED the number of tabs you need to have open if you both want to be able to view the picture full screen AND keep open the source page for tags/artist-links and other kinds of stuff... (Before it was simply a matter of hitting back to go to the page, you can't do that from freshly opened new-tabs) Not to mention--since the source page is probably much more resource intensive than just the picture page--it'll be pushing RAM for Chrome users even higher, MORE than doubling.
I'm not asking for a new feature to be disabled cause I don't like it, only reverted, by pointing out that it's actually a removal of a feature if you think about it, as again, you can right/long press images and open them in a new tab already.
