Topic: [Question] Why is "screencap" forbidden and where is that written down?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Yesterday I uploaded (after a long converting process) a video: https://e621.net/posts/2185319 (Source is still up)
After ca. 14h it got deleted because of "sceencap". First I didn't even know screen capture was a dnp topic. But even if it is screen capture, it still is roughly the same quality as the average 3d animation here, so where is the difference?

looking at footage of the game on pornhub, Koikatsu looks more like a game than it does animation software like Source Film Maker, as those camera angles have a heavy "video game" feel to them that animation software doesn't have.

EDIT: to solve the question of why screencaps are banned, they're to ban low quality RP Secondlife screenshots if I remember correctly.

Where it's written down is uploading guidelines:

Bad things to upload:

Screen captures: Screenshots from games, still images from movies, video snippets from youtube, etc. etc
This includes all content created in sandboxes like Second Life, Minecraft, and similar
This also includes all ripped image files from visual novels and similar games.

Difference is that where the line is drawn. We want to still host furry 3D artwork, but we do not want to be porn video hosting site. There is already bunch of sites for that which are better at that, including pornhub and naughtymachinima, Furry Network seem to have gotten popular with Second life folks.

The line being that if the 3D artwork is rendered is most objective one and guidelines in general have been tried to keep as objective as possible so it's easiest for user to know if their stuff is accepted or not. After all, if you do need to record your screen to be able to make a video, you are most likely playing interactive game rather than doing stuff like modeling, rigging, posing, animating, sound designing, etc.

Indeed this is the case here as well, you are playing a interactive sex game with predone assets including animations and then just proceeding to record it, which also explains why the video is half an hour long, because you don't need to do much more than choose your preferences in game and hit record. Game already has the models, animations and sounds all there, you literally just click buttons. Because of this, there's no artistical value to speak of, only pornographic one which we do not care. Also in this case you can just go and buy the game to get even better experience as well.

To note is that we do still allow some screencaps, but usually these are from the creators who are creating full on games themselves and even then we only accept them sparingly.

I do wonder, because the guidelines are linked in bold letters on top of uploading page, do people actually read any of the links?

Ups, I only looked under Avoid posting ...

I do understand now, didn't even know it was a screen capture until a comment pointed it out.

Thx for the fast clarification!
