Topic: Fluid Gender tags vs Static Gender Tags

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I am having trouble with my blacklist because people are essentially putting multiple genders on single-character images. Case in point: pool #8134

The character here is referred to as female on the wiki and referred to as 'I don't care' by her creator. This pool has a three pages and the character's gender is different on each page. 'Ambiguous Gender" 'male' 'andromorph'. I guess this isn't really the same thing as what I said in the first line, but it's similar. This character's tagging gets all screwed up because she/he/they/it/whatever doesn't have tits. When in an image from behind, it's Female, when from the front, it's Male or Ambiguous Gender, when nude from the front it could be one of a hundred things that are all aliased so heavily that they add on other tags.

What if gender tags were special tags like species and artist? That would help with someone putting more than one on a single image, at least.

What if there was some kind of anti-aliasing, that prevents two tags from being on the same image? That'd be rough, but I feel like people could work it out.

I have 'male -female' on my blacklist to avoid pictures without any ladies in them, as that is not what I come here to look for. I can't think of a better way to accomplish this, but when people decide that a girl is a guy because she has no breasts or small breasts, it gets in the way of interesting art like Mikhaila here.

Perhaps you could blacklist 'penis -female' or something similar? With a character that could be interpreted as so many genders, it would be incredibly hard to make EVERYONE who uploads them know exactly what to put. Having a male-specific tag that isn't 'male' (such as 'penis' or 'balls') could be a way to avoid characters like that. You could add '-gynomorph' to the blacklist entry if you're also interested in females with penises/balls. Obviously it's not as good as 'male -female', but that's what I would do if I were you.

I would interpret "I don't care" to mean ambiguous gender (lore) or genderless (lore). I'm not sure if they added these as lore tags yet.

I'm a bit unsure about what you mean right now. I don't think it is proper tagging practice to tag the same character as more than one gender on a single comic page unless it is implied that it is actually changing genders.

I need some time to figure out a more helpful response to your issue.

Most tags are applied on a per post basis only using information visible in that post.

A character who is defined in canon, lore, or by the creator as female can be tagged with female_(lore) regardless of how they appear in a post.

In post #859030 Mikhaila Kirov should be tagged as male female_(lore).

It sounds like you only want to see posts that have a character that either appears female or is female according to lore. In that case just blacklist -female -female_(lore).
