Reason: Both are the same style of denim shorts, with daisy_dukes being tagged less, as well as being more of a regional colloquialism.

False. Daisy dukes are (usually) cutoffs, but not all cutoffs are daisy dukes. Daisy dukes are EXCEPTIONALLY SHORT shorts, and aren't even always cutoffs (some companies actually produce shorts that are already daisy dukes length). This should neither be aliased, nor even implicated.

An implication of daisy_dukes -> cutoffs is more sensible than an alias, true, as not all "cutoffs" are necessarily daisy_dukes (might be a different fabric or construction from denim).

All daisy_dukes are cutoffs, however, as they are literally named for the style of cutoff denim short worn by the character from the Dukes of Hazzard television series.

"EXCEPTIONALLY SHORT shorts" which are not denim cutoffs may be tagged as hotpants or booty_shorts, yet are not by definition daisy_dukes.
