Topic: Digital Life Forms Tag?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I log in today to brows around as I usually do and I see an upload by Suirano: post #2246746. And it got me thinking if there is a Tag for characters that are like this. Living Digital Entities. More specifically, those digital life forms that are being shown as cyber like in nature, images like: post #1272369, post #1414810, post #1461714, or even post #2245377.

I have searched but I don't really find much on this subject, the closes thing that I run into is the "Digital Media" tag but that can be anything like pictures drawn using a computer exclusively.

What I'm asking is, is there a Tag that represents Digital Creatures who are clearly being portrayed as Digital, either manifesting into the real/physical world or existing within cyberspace itself. While I understand a tag like this could be used to describe characters like the Digimon, but I don't mean to have the tag used on characters who are Digital Life forms yet show no hint at being a digital life form, for example, Nicole the Lynx is not normally shown to be a digital entity in this site with images like: post #1968542. Or probably the most famous example, Renamon, where easily the vast majority of images of this species are portrayed like they actually are organic: post #2242084.

What I'm looking for is a Tag that represents when Digital characters are shown as Digital, again using Renamon for comparison since she's a digital life form by nature but is almost never portrayed as such. Where an image like post #2099118 wouldn't warrant a "Digital Life Form" tag since the only thing representing anything digital here would be the background image which has some numbers and cyberspace like squares floating around. But, on the flipside the sibling image post #2099120 would warrant such a tag as it clearly shows the wireframe that makes up the Renamon.

Such a phenomena can be represented by characters being made from light that is Voxel based or Binary in nature, you can see it due to the uniform perfection within it, Digital anything has this detail of subtle perfection you can see. Or is manifesting out of digital space, or is moving through the digital realm to and from real space.

I'm sorry for the tautology this is my first post here on e621, and I'm not too sure how detailed I should be.

That's about 21 Pages long, and growing. Overtime it would bury the question and of course due to how people have different ways of explaining things or wording things out, it would be insane to search through all that. And then comes in with deviating conversations and such. And with the mixed subjects and details... Yea no, one thread for such a subject is madness, a Forum Sector on the other hand is more suitable. Which, as I can see it the "Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions" is the perfect category. There's also the possibility that my question would be ignored due to someone simply replying to an earlier question and the following answers and questions would take presidency over mine due to simply being hidden somewhere in the middle.

Can you then tell me what is the purpose of the "Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions" section for if not for exactly what I just posted?

From what I can see there isn't such a tag in existence yet, but I think something like digital_creature could work for those examples. It describes the character as a digital entity, isn't exclusive to digimon_(species) in it's wording like digimorph is, and fits with the other *_creature tags.

Also, I think the "Do We Have A Tag For That?" thread typically is for these kinds of questions, stuff like 'is there a tag for this?' followed by a description of what you're looking for. Usually you can get a relatively quick response there (I often respond to questions in that thread), and bumping your question might be alright if your original question goes unanswered and falls back to an older page. The "Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions" subject is used for questions/projects pertaining to tags/wikis, but this is generally for subjects that aren't covered under other threads (in order to avoid having too much forum bloat, for threads with similar questions).

Edit: I also found glitch_creature to be a thing. I think it can be used as a subtag of digital_creature, but that's just my opinion on it.

I see, I will try to be less callous in the future, I see how my reply might've come off as such and do apologize. That was not my intention.

As for the "Digital Creature" tag, I did come with the intention of finding out if it did exist or if not if it could be made and how. But I see you've already handled that. I guess all that's left for me now is to tag what I can find with it. Thank you.

This seems difficult to define. I'm not sure if I'd consider all of those examples to be digital creatures by twys. For instance, my first reaction to post #1414810 was 'holographic long-distance sex'. ...what can I say, I've read a lot of scifi...

Would this tag also cover things such as player characters in virtual reality setting?

What I meant by the concept was creatures that show signs of being digital. So Characters in VR Space wouldn't qualify unless they are explicitly showing that they're made of light or data in some form. Like in the examples that I gave with the Renamon one; although Renamon is commonly known to be a Digital creature (It's in the name "Digital Monsters") most of the time, she's drawn to look like a normal Anthropomorphic fox, so no it wouldn't qualify in that sense. But in the second image of her where her Digital Core is exposed in that sense it would qualify as a "Digital Life Form" because you can see the wire frame.

A Tag like this would easily fit into things like AIs which are portrayed through a computer (Think HAL9000) but in those cases the Computer Tag would better fit the description than Digital Creature.

Think a more literal form of "Tag what you see": I.E. If you see binary data making up some of the character (like a limb materializing from Data) then yes a Digital Creature, Regardless of the situation. Holograms could also qualify for this due to their nature as being made of light (But to distinguish between a being who's actually made from light and a Hologram, there should be some apparatus projecting the hologram creature). Nicole the Lynx is described to be a Hologram in the Sonic Comics when she's not in her PDA, so yes even Holograms would qualify (Again, so long as it's obviously a hologram and not one that's so Detailed you can't distinguish it from being a Hologram) Solid light or no, the reason you would omit this tag from her most of the time, is because you can't really tell she's a Hologram she looks like a normal Anthropomorphic Lynx. Unless you visibly can see something that shows she's digital then the tag should be omitted.

Going back to the VR example, remember the programs from Tron how they look completely human, even though they ARE digital creatures this tag wouldn't apply to them due to their completely human appearence. Although one in the process of getting Derezzed would definitely get the Tag.

Edit: I should also mention, that I wouldn't count prototype 3D models to fall under this category like post #111816 because that obviously doesn't count; as the intention, situation, theme, literally everything points to a WIP for a different project. But a prime example that has almost everything I described would be post #1371222.

Yea, I think "Scratch 1.0" (post #1327143) is the perfect character that enbodies this tag the best. Prominent Pixels where they shouldn't be (And obviously not Censorship), 3D Wireframe limbs, Iconography eyes, glitchy.
