Topic: [Feature] having tag groups or more categories

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Description
Again two ways to do it
-extracting some categories from "general" like for example "clothing"
-having only one more grouping layer in the category "general" which also can be collapsed or expanded each. (I would prefer this)

Why would it be usefull?
I have problems in using the tag lists because they are "chaotic"(thopic wise)/alphabetically sorted. For example if I want to look up which genders are in the work and/or have a sexual action going on I have to check out 6 different places at the taglist. Or if I want to look up which position the work uses because I don't know it I hasve to go through the complete taglist to search for it and at the worst case it even is not in there. What I also noticed if a work is well taged the clothing tags get so annoying IMO.
It could also be used on the metatag and copyrights category but there are not many cases which show such problems.

What part/s of the site page/s are affected?
GUI: Only the general category
Implementation: I'm not so sure. The parser maybe and the categories would need one more layer and I don't know how those work.

+1

Using the tag groups from the wiki would probably be a good starting point for this. I'm imagining that a script could pull them out, although figuring out where to place things that fall into more than one tag group could take a significant amount of manual work.

IMO there would be even no problem if those tags just get duplicated. Just putting the same tag also into all respective group/s shouldn't hurt.

It would be interesting to see how that would work out, having a tag under multiple tag categories simultaneously. I don't have any experience with coding, but I'd imagine that would be difficult to implement.

Though I do think implementing a 'color' and/or 'clothing' tag category could be beneficial, I think it will take a while before any change like this comes about. It took some time before the 'meta' and 'lore' tag categories were implemented, and the 'invalid' tag category is still currently not in use.

It doesn't have to be such a burden. You already have alianising and implemantations. So some implemanting categories like cloth or color could be categorized very easily.
But yeah, I think, too, this at least will take his time.

See this thread for a discussion about a possible color tag category: https://e621.net/forum_topics/26928

Just colors is in my opinion to specific and also not worth it. Colors played at least for me a very very insignificant role to even consider a separat category for itself while having a own group in the general category would be very much apreciated (like I said I have/had almost no problems with colors. So pimarly not for mysels but for the site and it's users like you for example)
