Topic: Feature Request: Remove creepy comments

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

After a comment is reported and the user warned for his creepy behavior, the comment, no matter the amount of upvotes or how old it is, needs to be removed. It's creepy. It doesn't have to stick around any longer than it has to. You're gonna go in circles if people see that creepy comments are okay, because you're not removing them.

Removing them might be a bit extreme (not all creepy comments are equal), but maybe an automodded edit to the comment saying "this user was warned for this comment) could work?

Hmm... I seem to recall there was a reason creepy comments were not deleted/hidden-to-most, so maybe a feature request to automatically hide these comments with a warning "this comment violates our guidelines" while still allowing someone to click-through and see it?

And locked, 'cause someone actually edited their creepy comment and got "reported" with why they got a record for said comment.

Is there a particular reason as for why we no longer have the 5 minute time limit for editing comments?

That could work

Yeah but it strikes me that even if the user in question is a multi-offender and the comments are in fact really creepy, action seems to be non-existent . I recall someone openly talking about incest experiences with his brother a few years ago, the comments were upvoted a lot and the user wasn't even warned.
But then there are comments like ''he's cute, I want him'' and this user will get the full-on ban hammer. Action needs to be consistent.
I'm reporting every creepy comment I come across but sadly most of the time the comment is over 20 days old so the staff won't do anything about it.

Action can only be taken when the admins know there's something to take action on, which depends on someone reporting it. Since records decay after 6 months, and the point of a record is to get the user to behave properly, if an offense isn't discovered until over a month after the fact and the user has kept their nose clean since then, there's a presumption that the user has stopped being a problem and it's not worth handing out a record (though this depends on the exact nature of the offense; someone who admits to being under 18, for example, is presumed to still be under 18 until proven otherwise, so should be reported regardless of how long it has been). If a user hasn't kept their nose clean and continued to make creepy comments or something, then for sure report their more recent behavior.

A single creepy comment won't result in a full-on ban hammer. A ban would be a result of several instances getting several records (first a neutral record, then multiple negative records) and the user still persisting with creepy comments. The final comment would just be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Honestly if the comment is bad enough to earn someone a record maybe it should be taken down or hidden.
