Topic: Jaggia vs Jaggi

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I noticed in the tags that Jaggia is auto corrected to Jaggi even tho the Jaggia is the female version of the Jaggi and they have physical differences and are different genders ( https://monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Jaggia ).This isn’t done with the Rathian/Rathalos so is there a specific reason that this isn’t done with the Jaggia/Jaggi and is there a way I can get this changed?

I imagine jaggia is aliased to jaggi for the same reason mare (as an example) is aliased to horse. So, if what you say is correct, rathlan should probably be aliased to rathalos (assuming I got the order right. It hasn't been done yet because no one who knows the franchise has spoken up about the discrepancy before.

That's different. horse is a gender-neutral species name that can be either male or female. rathalos and rathian are visually distinct sub-species (of the rath_wyvern group), which canonically are gender-specific (rathalos are male, rathian are female), however you can make a picture of a male rathian that is visually different than a male rathalos, or a female rathalos that's different from a female rathian.

They're similar enough to write it off as gender dimorphism.

Is it possible to get this changed, cause the Jaggia is physically different then a Jaggi, the Jaggi are smaller and have spikes on their tail and the Jaggia are larger and have feathers on their tail, along with the females frills hanging limply rather than stiffly like the males, is that enough of a disparity to justify some new tagging with them or will it just have to stay as is do you thing? Because I can try to retag them as long as the tag to have Jaggia and Jaggi separate is unlocked

Personally, I feel like rathalos and rathian should be aliased. Anything I can find about the two just refers to them as "gender counterparts" of each other. And I'd honestly argue that peafowl have a much greater and more noticeable sexual dimorphism than these two. Any in-game renders I find of the two just seems to suggest that they have a little bit of a face shape difference, and rathian is spikier (judging by the wings, tail, and shoulder blade areas). That seems to be about it, aside from color. Strictly speaking of visuals, of course.

There's also the matter of the color variants of both. Both have two different color variants that absolutely should be aliased regardless of how the other rath tags are handled, because the only difference I'm seeing is... well, color. So, pink_rathian and gold_rathian should be aliased to rathian, and azure_rathalos and silver_rathalos should be aliased to rathalos. If people really find it so important to give Monster Hunter creatures a tag for color variants, then treat them like shiny pokémon rather than having each variant hold its own tag.

Edit: As a side note, rath_wyvern should probably implicate flying_wyvern. Currently rathian and rathalos implicate it separately. And if they get aliased to rath_wyvern, then they'd lose that implication. If... I'm understanding aliases and implications correctly, anyways.

The Jaggi and Jaggia, likewise, really don't seem different enough to warrant separate tags. I'd say they easily fall under sexual dimorphism. Actually, probably more easily than rathalos and rathian, given that they seem to have less noticeable differences than them. So I'd say those two should stay how they are.
