Can we stop aliasing useful color tags to less useful and vastly more broad ones?

Just because that's how it was handled in the past doesn't mean it was a good idea. The policies on color tags have changed since those aliases were made, and you are essentially suggesting a valid hair color tag be aliased away.

Is it valid? How would someone practically tell the difference between gray and silver?

You can produce different shades of the same color by mixing different colors in with it. Silver is a variant of grey, but I would say it more on the white or bluish side, and most other colors mixed with grey will not look silvery at all.

During tagging I have seen shades of grey that don't look like grey as we imagine it at all.

Anyways it is valid, because it has implications, a lot of tags, and by current standards certain features are allowed to have color tags that are specifically relevant to that feature, and I believe silver is a color specifically relevant to hair. Although I personally feel it should be generally relevant to all tags.

I want to mention that since silver is a type of grey, it could be implicated to grey. I know this is some insane idea to think about making it easier to find specific colors instead of harder. I want to consider it a more modern way of handling things, and believe we should leave the habit of merging color tags in the past.

I guess a silver_hair -> grey_hair implication would be fine if enough folks feel silver_hair is worth keeping distinct from grey_hair, but I don't see much need for keeping them separate.

From my own perspective, all the posts with silver_hair are indistinguishable from grey_hair. Some of the silver_hair posts have that whitish or bluish coloration you mentioned, but most of them simply seem like purely grey-colored hair without extra tinges of color.
