Reason: Pete is a Disney character who far predates Goof Troop, debuting in 1925. While his full name is Peter Pete Sr. as given in the show, he's more commonly known as just "Pete" and Disney doesn't use the full name that often outside the show.

"Peg-Leg Pete" is one of his famous nicknames.

Arguably, there's more than one Pete. There's Mickey Mouse's nemesis and career criminal Peg-Leg Pete/Black Pete/Big, Bad Pete (who originally was more muscular, more cat-like, and had a long tail before he soon gained weight and lost the tail; eventually, he also lost the pegleg in the cartoons, which the newspaper comic explained as him swapping his pegleg for a proper foot prosthetic). Then there's Peter Pete, Sr. of Goof Troop who resembles Peg-Leg Pete physically and in some respects personality-wise, but could also be argued as being a different character as he's a family man and isn't a career criminal (more or less). It could be argued they're related, but there's no canon proof of that. The reason Peter Pete, Sr. isn't used outside of the show (that I'm aware of) is that he's not Peg-Leg.

I'd argue that we'd need to differentiate between the two Petes, just as we'd need to differentiate between Goofy and all the canon Goofy look-a-likes who've appeared in Goof Troop and other media.

My thoughts: the peter_pete_sr. -> goof troop ought to stay, but pete_(disney) ought to be a disambiguation with peg-leg_pete his own character, depending upon context. I admit telling the two apart might be difficult sometimes.

Peter Pete Sr. and other incarnations of Pete aren't necessarily the same character, I'm not sure how often more than one version of the character share pieces of media, but I am aware of one, the Goof Troop SNES game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh7F1B38l48 ), in this case "Keelhaul Pete". this shows that there are multiple versions of this character that can exist separately and concurrently.

I would probably lean towards implicating the multiple diffrent forms of the character to pete_(disney) and using that as a sort of catch-all.

I know it's already been rejected, but I'm in support of this. The only difference between the Goof Troop Pete and other Disney Petes is his backstory, which is hard to tell from an image. His face design was different in Goof Troop, but they changed it to match his traditional design in A Goofy Movie. Disney characters backstories change depending on the story they're in - Mickey Mouse can be a musketeer, a nightclub owner or a steamboat character, but he's still Mickey Mouse. Regarding there being "more than one Pete", canonically Link is a different character in each Zelda game, but they all get tagged with link.

For now, I'll go through the tag and change the peter_pete_sr. tags to pete_(disney) and remove goof_troop for the pics where the character isn't clearly his Goof Troop version (usually pics that feature Max or PJ).
