So I can’t like my own comments, but I can dislike them? What’s the point of that??

So I can’t like my own comments, but I can dislike them? What’s the point of that??

Liking your comment makes no sense. Obviously you like your comment, you wrote it, which means comments need 2 dislikes by other people to be negative. Disliking your comment makes some sense. If a comment is so bad even the creator doesn't like it then it deserves all the dislikes it can get.

There shouldn’t even be a like/dislike option here for comments

If that was your entire point of posting this thread, why didn't you say so at the beginning?

I don't see why not? It's useful for hiding bad comments once they hit a certain amount of dislikes. Liking helps you put a shine on good comments.

too bad it seems to often be used not to downvote inherently bad/mean/etc. comments but comments that peeps just disagree with or don't want to hear.

nostalgiarabbit means the option to vote for your own comments and not in general.

Sadly so true. Or comments they don't understand

it always sucked when people like Dice would get her comments hyper downvoted for trying to explain TWYS during Whygena-era tag wars.
I kinda wish we had a weighted comment system like ExHentai, either by green bar or by contributions (tag edits, posts, wiki edits, etc.), that way maybe people who are the most involved with trying to improve the site had a bit more voice.

Sometimes I get downvoted for saying a human-only post will get deleted, sometimes I get upvoted. Roll with the punches and whatnot.
