Topic: What to do if I believe a locked tag is incorrect?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I'd probably say DMail the staff member if they were current, but seeing as they're not anymore I guess just link the post here.

I would likely recommend not dragging it out here. Sned in a question asking NICELY about it. I would assume they don't want users called out. I may be wrong though

if it really is a misslocked tag you could report the post for having tagging abuse at least that's what I've done in the past, although it's very rarely come up.

before you do anything though you should probably look at the post's edit history if there was a tag war in the edits and the tags were locked and the lock wasn't just kind of out of nowhere it was probably deliberate and will probably stay.

edit: I'm assuming that this is the post you're talking about since it's the only one that you've edited recently that's had any locks on, the locked tags seem fine to me.

A question to who? The former staff who locked it?

Either send a dmail to the head admin, NotMeNotYou, or report the post as being mistagged with incorrect tag locks so current staff can review it as appropriate. I would also suggest against adding tags incompatible with the locked tags (which are displayed when making tag edits), as it could constitute tagging abuse. If a moderator (past or present) made a mistake, the proper thing to do is to let the head admin know so they can take care of it, not go against what they did by adding bad or incompatible tags.

Honestly you're going to get slapped straight down. As much as I want to spread understanding for semi-anthro bodytypes being far more subjective for gender tagging, the post you've singled out is not going to be a good example, and historically whenever this kind of dispute happens the admins will go in even harder on tag locks.

You need a strong objective argument to get a tag lock moved, and it shouldn't be attempted if there's so much as a single indicator that the locked tag is valid.

I'm going to lean toward agreeing with the locked tags in this case. the character really dosn't have any feminine secondary features, and their face seems more masculine to me.

I feel like I might be biased on this, though, the tag lock was preformed by a user I have an immense amount of respect for because of her dedication to tagging both before and during her tenure as staff.

The whole point about locking tags is that the locking is the 'final word' about the issue. You're not meant to dispute it, so don't waste staff time by dmailing them about it. The only time those might get changed is if something was overlooked, such as a hidden scene in a flash game.

people do make mistakes, it's not impossible that a lock was made in error, or a tag was locked on instead of off, or somehow the lock was placed on the wrong post, or a barely visible character or scene at the end an animation is missed and something gets locked off that shouldn't be.

I mean, in this case it wasn't that, but it has happened.
