Topic: Page gets switched if i move my screen slightly

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Hi.. I have a problem at the moment which is really annoying and robs the fun of being on here.

I was browsing this site not too long ago and got confused when i zoomed into a picture that it suddenly took me to the next post. Same for the post directory. When i tried to zoom on an artist name it took me to a new page without me even pressing any buttons to go back. Is this like a new thing on e621??? cause if so then imma have to leave sadly. Pages switching without the given command to do so is very irritating and just annoying.

Thanks !

I'm going to assume you're on mobile.

Go to Account and click on Settings, click on Advanced, go down until you see Disable mobile gestures and set that to "Yes".

I enabled mobile gestures again because I reworked them. Sorry to hear that you're having issues with them triggering too aggressively. Spent quite a bit of time trying to make sure that they are as explicit an action as possible. The window for page navigation is a 30 degree cone horizontally now. It should never trigger a swipe if more than one finger is used as well, but I can see where you might run into issues if you tend to flick to navigate around a zoomed in page. I also added it to the list of logged out options you can disable under "Themes / Gestures" at the bottom of every page so that you don't need an account to mess with turning them off.

Good lord, this is horrible. Whenever I try to scroll anywhere even slightly it just does whatever it wants. This really shouldn't be enabled by default. I even had to rewrite a comment 5 times because it would suddenly jump to a new page

I'm now starting to think some specific browser/phone vendor is doing something weird. Because this isn't what I could get in testing across my devices. I will pull the update and try to collect more information from people, because it doesn't add up currently.

Just to let you know having same issue using iPhone SE with Brave and Safari. Just a touch too sensitive, even with a light finger touch.

It should be disabled now except for on e926.net, are you using it on e926?

I'm starting to suspect that this is the result of some digitizers being really bad, or dirty and so paths get stopped and recreated mid stroke. It's supposed to have a minimum speed, distance and the directions are fairly precise to counter things like that, but some people are capable of getting it to run even when scrolling straight down, which is extremely odd.

EDIT: Disabled it on e9 as well, since this feature is a disaster every time I try to touch it.

Updated

Nope, on e621. I disabled it and it’s fine. Honestly, if I hadn’t noticed this thread, I would have figured it was Brave being glitchy. I’ve noticed the browser acts weird with some sites. I think you are right about the digitizers; some swipes would throw me a couple pics ahead or send me into some weird space I didn’t intend.
