"monogatari" means a Story. So, I thought there might be other works with the same title.

I was almost about to say that there's not even monogatari, but all the media is part of the monogatari series, however it does seem like the manga is simply monogatari and it's anime adaptation that just sprung like thousand seperate titles.

Because characters in monogatari series are the same characters in nisemonogatari which are the same characters that are in nekomonogatari kuro, etc. etc. just with more or less focused on specific characters, so should simply alias all of those into monogatari_(series) instead of keeping seperate titles.

So the characters are common, like the works of Osamu_Tezuka, or Tom_and_Jerry, for example.
[We Japanese call it the star_system ,the premise of using popular characters... Movie_Star ? ]
