Topic: Blacklist Doesn’t Always Work

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Very rarely I’ll encounter a post with a tag I have blacklisted. The post’ll appear in a search as if not blacklisted but then the blacklisted tag will be listed at the top of the tags under the header “Blacklisted”. If I had to guess I’d say that it has something to do with the amount of tags since I remember each post it happened on having a large amount and the blacklisted tag being alphabetically low. I find this a serious enough issue that I’m unwilling to use this site again until it’s been handled.

I’ve never submitted a bug report before so apologies if this is the wrong place to do so but I couldn’t find anywhere else.

Can't confirm. Searching for zootopia order:tagcount with zootopia blacklisted works correctly every time.
What is your specific case - i.e. what tag does not seem get blacklisted correctly?

Please, make sure that all the filters are active (not crossed out) in the sidebar, under "Blacklisted".

Yes the blacklist’s enabled. The search’s “mature_female order:score”. The blacklisted tag’s “young”. The post ID’s “1234760”. From here it appears to be on page six. From the hover-over text it appears that the post contains tags containing the word “young” like “younger_male” and “younger_penetrating_older” but not the tag specifically. Thanks for the prompt replies; I was worried that this’d just get buried since this seems like a pretty active forum.

This is a result of user avatars being blacklisted.

post #909780, present in that particular comment section as @thesmileguy's avatar, has "young" in its tags.

Actually I don’t know if that’s what’s happening? I have “undertale” blacklisted but post 1360887 has two comments by users with avatars with that tag but it’s not showing up in the post’s tags.

Tags for avatar images in comments are not appended to post tags. Pretty sure that would obliterate the tagging system (imagine if someone set their avatar to something with, say, gore - every single post they comment on would then receive the gore tag and be blacklisted for everyone who blacklists gore (which is a common blacklist item, to the point I believe it's on the global blacklist), even if the post itself does not feature gore). Avatar image tags are still considered by the blacklisting system, but don't affect the post itself.

However, it should be said that it seems blacklisted avatars do not (usually) trigger the "blacklisted" header. I've seen it where it does seem to be the case, but just as if not more often it doesn't.

'young' as a tag denotes a character who appears underage, the 'younger_x' tags just refer to a age differential and not appearing underage, although there's some crossover.

This is exactly what's happening. post #831444 is @immodequella's avatar, post #752337 is @cantslamthemall's.

Blacklist something to the effect of "solo", and check the comments of posts that are tagged with "duo". You'll see this behavior persists.

I’m not quite sure what you mean. Are you saying that sometimes when a blacklisted avatar appears in the comments of a post its blacklisted tag or tags appear in that post’s tags but not always?

Avatars' tags never show up in the post's tags. Changing a post's tags based on what the avatars in the comments are makes absolutely zero sense - I am not sure why you would even think that would happen.
If an avatar gets blacklisted, a relevant tag always appears in the "Blacklisted" section in the sidebar. That is all.

I have a user blacklisted, but when I search even a single tag, posts of theirs show up. I turned blacklist on and off again, and it's still there. I'm not sure how else to fix this, but I'm also a very new user so this might've been encountered before and someone knows how to fix it?
