Whenever I search posts with "order:*" tags it does not allow me to use the "previous" "next" buttons when in a selected image.

This is intentional. The system used for quickly moving forwards and backwards doesn't have information about your search/page etc. As a result it has to figure out how to quickly find where you are in the search result set to find the next/previous image. For sorted result sets, this proves to take too long, so it's turned off. When images are sorted by id(the default) there is a really easy and fast way to find the previous or next post, so it is enabled for those searches.
