Topic: Should I post my art here?

Posted under Art Talk

I've been thinking about this for a very long time, but
I'm a bit nervous to upload any of my own art!
I've just noticed a thread on here talking about their posts being deleted due to lack of quality, and it makes me a tad bit nervous to upload any of mine.
Is it true that moderation is harsh on self-uploaders?
What should I strive for in terms of quality before uploading?

There's no real formal policy on self-posting, but it's still a bad idea to upload your own art most of the time. If somebody posts your art on your behalf and it gets approved, feel free to try and upload everything else yourself.

Good to know, thank you very much.

There's no rule against it and Janitors aren't more harsh against artists who post their own art. People often advise not to however as artists who upload their own art often take it more personally if it's deleted for quality reasons.

A lot of art that gets deleted is due to the proportions of characters being off or the perspective not lining up, apart from that it'd just be the overall quality.

If you post a link to some examples of your art we could give you an idea of if it'd be approved or not, and if not we could say what you'd need to improve on.

Don't be a dick. If nobody uploaded their art here there wouldn't be much to this site.

Gopher it. A number of artists post here without any problem. As long as you keep your skin thick enough, you won't have a problem, even if your work is not accepted at times.

Yes, it is true. All of my posts got deleted. The artistic quality is the main problem of many artists and not the file quality. The anatomy of the character has to make sense and the shading too.
You can try to upload your art here, but I don't recommend you to do it.

You won't know if your art will be accepted until the staff of the site can get a chance to look at it, so like a couple others have said: Go for it. There's no harm in uploading it, even if it gets deleted. Just don't take it personally if it does get deleted. We all have something to learn with our art, something to improve on. Even those whose art is accepted here, and even those who are widely considered the top of their field. Whether it gets accepted or not, strive to improve your art. That's about all I can suggest without personally seeing any of yours.

If you want to post go for it (I say that even though I'm nervous to do so myself.. I think it's mostly shyness)
If it gets deleted, improve a lot and try again.
I agree with @bitWolfy

Self uploads are perfectly fine. But based on what I saw on the DeviantArt profile, I don't think you're ready yet.

You should link your DeviantArt on your e621 profile.

Gonna be honest here: stuff like this has a chance of being approved:

There are some issues with forearms and hands, but overall, it's alright.

Stuff like this, on the other hand, probably won't be:

I appreciate the critique!
I wholeheartedly agree with the criticism on the first post, the arms and hands were really disproportionate. At the time I'd been drawing for 6 hours and I just wanted it to be over with. Synth arms are hard to draw!!
As for the second one, that's also understandable. That piece is probably about a year old if I have to guess, I only use it as a pfp in some places.

Thank you again for the reply.

Overall, I really appreciate the advice. I should be able to handle it if it gets deleted, though I probably won't be posting much (if any) of my previous works. I have a relatively thick hide.
