Reason: The superorder Octopodiformes contains within it the Trachyteuthis family, the Vampyromorphida (or vampire squid) order, and the Octopoda (or octopus) order. If the site's going to use these convoluted and overly precise names, the least it could do is be correct.

honestly if I created another BUR I'd be too tempted to try to unalias every one of these overly scientific names

So I was trying to search for Octopus and realized that it was barely tagged, leaving me to wonder if it was once aliased. Looking here, it certainly was... but what exactly is supposed to be done with it now being unaliased?

I'm currently working on it, the BUR is going to fix that and several other related tags. It's just taking a while because scientific names are hard. I might break the BUR into several smaller BURs instead, for the sake of fixing those octopus tags faster.

Agreed. The scientific names aren't even always right, and that doesn't even take into account how things get reclassified from time to time, too.

Not knowledgable enough with taxonomy, is there any follow ups for this BUR?
Squid should at least be unaliased from decapodiform
