Relying on favorites for such a large number of images is just asking for things like this when inevitably (statistically-speaking) some get deleted, an artist goes DNP, etc.

Saving them locally and organizing them into folders as you do so fixes that.

how do you even notice when 1 favorite gets deleted while you have fifty thousand favorites

If you search for deleted posts (status:deleted) then you can open that post and check wheter or not it has source attached to it where to still see the content.
Alternatively if you find the content of the deleted post elsewhere, you can just save it locally.
