Topic: [Feature] New stats: past year averages

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.

New stats such as "average posts per day (past year)".

Alternatively, a line graph showing the change in the rate over time or when post milestones like 500,000 and 1 million were hit.

Why would it be useful?

The averages for the past decade don't reflect how fast posts are being uploaded to the site today.

From Feb 2007 to May 2015, about 650,000 posts were uploaded. From May 2015 to Sep 2017, over 670,000 posts were uploaded.

This may apply to comments and forum posts as well.

That's about:

2008: 29 posts per day
2009: 83 ppd
2010: 149 ppd
2011: 209 ppd
2012: 259 ppd
2013: 385 ppd
2014: 435 ppd
2015: 592 ppd
2016: 815 ppd
2017: 878 ppd
2018: 925 ppd ((1752099 - 1414385) / 365)
2019: 959 ppd ((2101955 - 1752099) / 365)
2020: 1232 ppd ((2552727 - 2101955) / 366)
2021: 1498 ppd ((3099630 - 2552727) / 365)
2022: 1876 ppd ((3784194 - 3099630) / 365)

By average posts per day (past year), I meant the past full year. That is about 916 posts per day from 2016-09-10 to 2017-09-10. Much higher than the 343 posts per day average from the beginning of the site's history.

The rate might be slowing down if the recent counts are skewed by the Raw Tumblr Crisis.

Updated

I think this site could always use more interesting statistics to keep track of. I like the idea of utilizing a line graph as well.

I edited the data above. We've climbed from 815 to 878 to 966 posts per day so far in 2018. This just uses IDs on certain dates, so deleted posts are counted in the number.

Rate declined from 966 ppd on day 168 to 925 ppd for the full year. But still a little above 2017.

Have we reached the porn plateau?

E621.net PPD was up 3.68% YOY, increasing from a rate of 925 PPD throughout 2018 to a rate of 959 PPD throughout 2019. After opening nearly 2% higher, late Sunday, West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery was last up around 0.9% while the global benchmark, March Brent crude neared the $70-a-barrel mark after the U.S. Defense Department warned over the weekend that there was a "heightened risk" of retaliatory Iranian attacks against Saudi oil facilities. The global silicone market size is expected to grow from USD 20.4 billion in 2019 to USD 28.6 billion by 2024, at a CAGR of 7.0% during the forecast period. The major factors driving the silicone industry include the superior properties of the material and its high demand in different end-use industries, such as building & construction, personal care & consumer products, Bad Dragon dildos up your asshole, transportation, and electronics for sex robots.

e621 is reporting different first posts for the year depending on the time zone in user settings. I set the time zone to (GMT+00:00) London for consistency's sake.

date:2021-01-01 order:id = post #2552727

The shocking truth has been revealed. Posts per day are up to 1232 now, a 28% increase from last year. This is the largest increase since 2015-2016, and can likely be blamed on COVID. At this rate we will reach 3 million in 363 days, around December 29, 2021.

Also, I added a table with milestone GETs.
