Topic: [Feature] Option to disable notes

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Add an option to prevent the display of notes on images. An account-wide setting would be the most primarily useful, but a button to disable/enable notes on individual post pages would also be helpful. Per-post memory of whether a user has disabled or enabled notes on any specific image would be a nice extra on top of that, but not essential.

Why would it be useful?
When posts have notes, the only way to view them in their original format without the note boxes overlaid on them (at least as far as I can find) is to individually download every image. While notes can be a useful feature for translating other languages or illegible text, there are also reasons one might not want them always displayed by default. For instance, wanting to view images in their original format, being able to read the language a post's text is in, or simply finding the boxes distracting. Personally, I find that many posts have notes correcting very minor typos that don't hamper readability at all, and having an outlined translucent overlay draws far more attention to the error and is irritating and distracting. Since different users will have different preferences, tolerances, and reasons for wanting notes on or off, allowing personalized control over their display would allow for a better and more streamlined viewing experience on the site.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Posts, user settings

(If there's already an option for this somewhere that I missed, please by all means direct me to it. I scoured through my account settings and the help pages and couldn't find any mention of being able to disable notes at any level)

I would like to say I support this suggestion and made one along the same lines myself a while back. I would like the option to have notes hidden by default, to where you would click to turn them on, or possibly two separate type of visual notes, the typo type being hidden by default, the translation one being activated by default.
