Topic: [Feature] Option to hide aliases in search suggestions

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
Add a user preference option to hide tag aliases from the search suggestions/autocomplete dropdown.
Why would it be useful?
I believe that some people (including me) don't like how an alias being shown at top of the search suggestions dropdown when it actually has nothing to do with what they're trying to search for.
For example, if you type in "sonic" into the search box, the mostly unrelated "fan_character" tag appears at the top because there's an alias from the "sonic_fan_character" tag. Had the aliases hidden, "sonic_the_hedgehog_(series)" would appear at the top instead.
What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
The search box, specifically the search suggestions/autocomplete dropdown.

...
Why hasn't anyone looking on this? Do I need any special permissions in order for this post to show up to admins?

Perhaps a more useful option would be to separate the normal tags from the aliases, and ensure about a third or half of the suggested tags are not aliases. For instance, when I type in human, I get the suggestions

human/animal genitalia -> genitals
human waste -> bodily fluids
humanoid genitalia
humanoid
humanoid penis
human
humanoid animal -> animal humanoid
human hybrid -> hybrid
...

But if perhaps it showed

humanoid genitalia
humanoid
humanoid penis
human
...
--- separator ---
human/animal genitalia -> genitals
human waste -> bodily fluids
humanoid animal -> animal humanoid
human hybrid -> hybrid
...

That would help. Having the aliases show when I'm not sure of the tag is helpful, but they do also get in the way when I do know what I'm looking for. So having them in separate groups would help people to find the autocomplete they're looking for.

humanoid genitalia
humanoid
humanoid penis
human
...
--- separator ---
human/animal genitalia -> genitals
human waste -> bodily fluids
humanoid animal -> animal humanoid
human hybrid -> hybrid
...

Yes, this is way more useful than the way it works now.
