I want to clear something up that is bothering my mind.
I haven't been on this site for some time and when I searched for my usuals tags I found that there were a lot less results than what I was used to.
Did something happen to the site/tags that caused this or am I misremembering somethings?

Not enough info. How much time is "some time"? What tags are you searching for? Some artists may have had their art removed, some old posts may have been deleted for being commercial content, some tags may have been invalidated/disambiguated and moved elsewhere...

So no major changes have happened to the tag system and or content on the site that you know of? If that might be the case guess im misremembring things then.
I thought something had happened like a change in policy what could or couldn't be shown, copyright stuff from artists. I don't know.

Without knowing the timeframe and tags in question, I can't say. Lore tags were added some time ago, and some posts using tags that skirted the TWYS rule may have been moved to use those instead of general tags. Some tags may have been determined to be too vague or ambiguous, so posts using them were moved to other tags. The old 3-year rule for paid content was removed some time farther back, so all paid content is now to be deleted regardless of when it was released (some of it is still being found and deleted in recent days). Artists and character owners ask to have some or all of their stuff removed. So there could have been policy changes and/or copyright stuff from artists affecting your results.

All I've gotta say is that artwork gets deleted, like, A LOT. The mods are literal micromanagers who demand that some works do not make the skill standards which is outrageous when the mods themselves approve or even UPLOAD artworks that are much less developed than the works they deleted.

I had a bunch of Digimon collections drawn in traditional anime and they deleted the whole collection. Then I politely asked why, the mods downvoted my comments, gave me negative feedback, and threw my messages into the trash after asking 2 different mods. ever since 2018 the website is a dumpster fire. They don't bother reading my DMs but they have enough time to troll back other trolls and give tickets for as simple as hurting their feeling when there is swasticas, confederate flags, and cub porn allowed on this website. I love how there is an illusion of "standards" on this website when that is just a cover for doing whatever they want without consequence. These mods must really get bullied a lot and take out the heat on their users instead of bettering themselves
