Is there really any difference between the tags fake_rabbit_ears and bunny_ears_(cosmetic)?

The latter has much less of a tag presence (105 for BEC vs 1711 for FRE), but without digging deep into tagging histories just "nuke it" or "merge into FRE" seems to me like it might be questionable, especially if there is some noteworthy difference between them (doesn't seem so at a glance).

I don't see any noteworthy difference. Alias bunny_ears_(cosmetic) to fake_rabbit_ears imo.

I'm not opposed to aliasing BEC to FRE, but since I know I'm not perfect I thought I'd run it by others for a sanity check.

And on further thought, IMO "cosmetic" doesn't even apply, any more than a hat or a hair band would be "cosmetic". If they were somehow connected to normal ears and made to look like a natural part of it, like how RL people might do for costuming as a pointy-eared elf, yeah, but the rabbit ears depicted by both tags aren't concerned with looking like they're natural.

I agree with your reasoning. Arguably, those sorts of rabbit ears you mention would get the character tagged as hybrid rabbit by TWYS since the intent is to merge the fake ears with the character's own in a way to make them look like they belong there instead of obviously fake.
