Topic: Art Tips

For whatever art you specialize in (drawing, writing, music, cooking, coding, ect), give tips, facts, things for new people, and more! <3

I could only think of some basic stuff for writing:

- Use more than optical descriptions. Smells, temperature, enviromental sounds etc. bring in variety
- Explain things that are worthy to be explained and set established rules for the world before writting a story
- Avoid "Mary Sue" characters, flaws are natural and more relateable
- Character strenght is measured in the obsticles they have to overcome. Push over villains for example don't make a hero look powerful.

Now something modern "western" media is very guilty of:
- Gender, skin colour and sexual preference are part of a character. Those aren't superpowers and never should be the only thing that defines a fictional person. Having a conflict involving those is alright as story, but never cram in political lectures to check off boxes.
Take feminism as example:

Good examples

- Jill Valentine
- Claire Redfield
- Roberta Warren (Z-Nation)
- Old school Lara Croft
- Judy Hopps
- Holo (Spice and Wolf)
- MLP ponies

Bad examples

- Ghostbusters 2016
- Charlie's Angels 2019
- Captain Marvel
- Cruella (based on marketing)
- Batwoman (TV series)
