Topic: Where are my sculpture boys at 😤😤

Posted under Art Talk

Ok so I’m a sculptor right? A traditional sculptor, i work with pottery clay cus my caveman brain can’t comprehend blender, I uploaded some of my Judy Hopps sculpture pic here but apparently pictures of sculptures are not relevant to the site. But why?
It’s like any other piece of traditional art, i made her, I sculpted that pussy and i was getting comments on my post which made me happy so why can’t sculptures be included in the whole traditional art category? I think it’s limiting for a bunch of people, there could be a whole bunch of undiscovered beautiful naked bunnies.

So yeah does anyone else think there should be like a little change to the rules?

I would support sculptures being allowed, however, there may be a reason why sculptures are considered not relevant in the first place that I don't know about.
I would hit up Millcore or one of the other admins, they probably have an explanation as to why sculptures are not allowed.

Think of it like this. A photo of a canvas painting probably would get taken down under the rules. In fact Ive seen it almost unilaterally be so. But something that simply looks like a canvas painting would not be.

The same is true for sculptures and the issue is not that the medium is a problem but that photos are not considered a quality method of sharing the art.

This is the most recent topic I've found on the topic and so I'm replying here so as to not pollute search results.

I have to wonder if this was implemented at some point and posts are grandfathered in? There are numerous photos of sculptures on the site.

What I see is as problem though, is doesn't this make the tag sculpture_(artwork) invalid? That tag implies traditional_media_(artwork). As such, it's not even possible for those tags to be valid without a photograph. If a certain type of traditional media is banned from the site, which this seems to be, it should probably be mentioned in the wiki for both sculpture_(artwork) and traditional_media_(artwork). I'm not editing the wiki description without asking about it though. I haven't tested if a warning exists when trying to enter an avoid posting artist tag. If so, a warning when sculpture_(artwork) is tagged on an upload would be nice too if it's essentially never allowed.

I'm not going to try to argue about it, even if I find it strange a comparatively lower quality 3D render is okay or even manipulated photographs but a photo of a highly detailed sculpture is not. I just think as they stand the tags don't at all suggest sculptures don't belong on the site, especially since they reveal numerous (perhaps grandfathered in) search results.

Thats exactly the case. As it is with many rule changes like a lot of the human only posts.

Thanks.

I'm extremely tempted to edit mention of this into the two wiki entries for the relevant tags, but I don't want to overstep.
