Scalie is a species tag, furry is just a generic tag with no real use.

In addition to what peekaboo said, we also already have the fur tag for when fur is present. And terms like "furry"/"furries" have always tended to get mixed use for things which are better tagged as furry_lifestyle or because there's a visible part of furry fandom/culture, or even when a character is anthro and therefore "furry" related, etc. Which makes the tags messy by nature and better replaced by other tags which are clearer. It was an understandable question though so I wanted to explain some of the factors that went into why it wasn't kept.
