This has been messing with my mind for a few days now. Both palkia and pearl from splatoon are characters owned by nintendo (palkia being partially owned), and associated with pearls. They have a similar colour scheme and both names start with a "p". Are they somehow related? This is just some theory that my mind has been bugging me about for days. I'm wondering if there are people who agree with me?

Sounds like a reference to Palkia from Pokemon. "Palkia is the game mascot appearing on the boxart of Pokémon Pearl and its remake Pokémon Shining Pearl."
