Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: weighted_companion_cube -> weighted_companion_cube_(portal)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #52221 weighted_companion_cube -> weighted_companion_cube_(portal) has been rejected.

Reason: Missing alias. Companion_cube was first aliased to weighted_companion_cube, but later updated to weighted_companion_cube_(portal) without being aliased.

Edit: The *_(portal) suffix was needlessly added in, suggesting to flip the alias.

EDIT: The tag alias weighted_companion_cube -> weighted_companion_cube_(portal) (forum #311570) has been rejected by @Millcore.

Why does the tag need a '(portal)' added to it?

Reverse. The _(portal) suffix is not needed.

As far as naming convention is concerned, it follows it's companion tag - weighted_storage_cube_(portal).
When I encountered weighted_companion_cube, it was essentially emptied and their posts were moved to the more populated tag, weighted_companion_cube_(portal).

Why people decided to include the *_(portal) suffix, I have no idea.
Edit: According to tag edits, @ArtistClone24 manually changed all the character tags to include the *_(portal) suffix.

Never too late to undo things, especially if it's because of a single user.

Just realised they nuked the chell & wheatley character tags as well, moved all of the posts to chell_(portal) & wheatley_(portal).
The glados tag seems to be intact though since glados_(portal) has already been aliased to it.

Digging deeper, they have nuked a lot of other character tags from other franchises as well to include their respective suffixes (e.g., cortana -> cortana_(halo), jill_valentine -> jill_valentine_(resident_evil), etc).

Chell, Wheatley, and Cortana I can understand, those are more generic names, and Cortana actually is used as the name for the Windows Smartphone AI, but Glados and Jill Valentine are unique names. I'm going to dig through his tag edits and find all the different characters he committed tag abuse on.

Not just character tags it seems, they nuked the muffin_top tag and split them into 10 different categories.

Oh great, more unnecessary suffixes.
I hate everything about this.

The only one of these that makes sense is muffin_top_(thigh_highs). Even then, I thought that there was a tag for that already, but with a less contrived name?
The rest are just... bizarre. I especially despise muffin_top_(general_use), though.

It refers to the shape of the flesh, what does it have to do with any of the clothing, and what does "General Use" mean??? These tags are stupid and pointless.

So should we scrap the different categories of muffin tops, or maintain some and revert the rest back to the original tag?

I would just revert most of those, with a few caveats.
The muffin_top_(thigh_highs) tag is just thigh_squish with a worse name. I added the latter tag when appropriate.
Muffin_top_(food) might have some value, but personally, I think that it could just be replaced with muffin.

The rest, however, will need to be combed through to sort out the actual muffin_top (that is, "muffin-like shape of pudgy belly fat that spills out of one's figure") from the rest.
For example, these posts are currently tagged with various muffin_top_* tags, but I do not believe that the normal muffin_top tag belongs there.

I will get started on sorting those out tomorrow, if nobody else gets to it first.
