Topic: What's going on here?

Posted under Off Topic

Hello everyone, I am writing this because I really don't understand how hate abounds in this community,
Some friends have told me that this is the best place to share art but there are so many things .....
It makes me very angry that artists who have incredible works have so many negative votes and not to mention the offensive comments made by some users.
They don't realize that it is thanks to the artists that this community can exist?.

It also gives me a strange feeling that artists are attacked for having different tastes, we are all different.
I've seen that many don't like extreme themes like gore, water sports, etc. I understand that many don't like it and I respect the tastes of others.
But why tell the artist to change his preferences just because others do not share the same taste, that does not lead to anything positive.
No character that appears in a drawing or animation gets hurt (if we are talking about gore), it is part of the fiction, or rather of the performance in the story.
Compared to the real world, if you get your arm cut off, for example.

Is there any way to stop these attacks?
is the voting system the problem?
why vote an image or any file?

Wouldn't it be simpler to think, I like it, I see it and if I don't like it I close the image and look for another that suits my tastes.

Have you had that ugly experience of arguing with other users or that your beautiful creation had so many negative votes and on top of that you were insulted?

Your friends have not used e6 that often then. Posts here are subject to high scrutiny, some may be praised for being good while others may be criticised for bad (in quality). There is a possibility that people may leave otherwise unsavoury remarks on posts, as long as it is not targeted harassment.

The best places to share artworks will still be dedicated image galleries, such as FurAffinity, SoFurry, and DeviantArt.

If someone is giving an artist negative comments to stop drawing/posting this or that they hate seeing such artworks, they are breaking the Refusal to Use Blacklist rule and should be reported immediately.

The voting system is there to show the popularity of a given artwork, albeit I agree that there is no way of preventing people from disliking a particular kink even if the quality is good.

However, if you suspect someone is targeting/harassing you with downvotes on your artworks and comments, you may message an admin to have them check into it for potential voting abuse.

Again, comments saying that they don't like seeing such content are breaking the rules and refusing to use their blacklist.

Votes mean little as it's hard to know why anyone voted up or down. Did they vote because they like/dislike the artist? The fetish? The subject? The style? They're jerks? Who knows? Votes on a picture can give you a general picture, but it doesn't give many useful details.

On the other hand, offensive comments can and should be reported if not too old. If you want something more immediate as well, you can always downvote the comment. Three downvotes and it's hidden from view with the default settings.

Comments that attack the artist or subject should be reported, as TheGreatWolfgang says.

No, but there are tools to deal with them when they pop up.

is the voting system the problem?

No. Even the best voting system is limited by those who use it.

why vote an image or any file?

Because people believe their opinion matters.

Wouldn't it be simpler to think, I like it, I see it and if I don't like it I close the image and look for another that suits my tastes.

Yes, but for some people, that's no fun.

Have you had that ugly experience of arguing with other users or that your beautiful creation had so many negative votes and on top of that you were insulted?

No, because ultimately, they're only some anonymous, faceless person on the internet. Caring about their abuse only validates them while wasting energy one could put into creating something else.
